If you want to play the “but they started it” game, remember that the Empire will invariably lose.
What a good day that was.
It’s not about playing a “but they started it” game. No one wins that game. And who thinks that they are, are naive beyond measure.
It’s about growing up and realizing that you can’t have the cake and eat it, too. It’s about not measuring with two different sticks. It’s about owing up your actions and taking responsibility for them and your life.
There, fixed that for you.
Oh, I am sorry, I just figured since you went with the “well, because they did x, therefore y” route that you wanted to go all the way to “there wouldn’t be x without z and the rest of the alphabet.”
I just wanted to say that although I should have voiced my concerns about retaliation privately and not publicly…
I wasn’t wrong…
Anyone who thinks me a traitor for worrying about retaliation is the real traitor.
Do not be silly. You are no traitor, but we have our bounds and we have a job to do.
Apology accepted. Even the best amongst us make such mistakes. I’m glad it’s out of the world, now.
How does pointing out correctly that your leadership’s actions will invoke a response make you a traitor?
Don’t get me wrong, following those “bounds and duties” without question will bring it to action. There are peaceful ways this can be resolved, it rests on your side. Violence is our only voice in this matter unfortunately.
Oh, is that the case? I highly doubt it.
It is the only voice the Empire has ever listened to.
I get the logic. That’s why I was concerned before the first call for violence.
Anyone who is versed in capsuleer vs. capsuleer combat knows how escalations work.
If you and I both have a fleet of frigates, and I bring cruisers… I can’t get upset at you if you bring battlecruisers.
I guess the battlecruisers are coming.
Here, here.
An eye for an eye. Ushra’khan will not stand silent while the Republic works around their politics, treaties and decrees. An entire planet of our people are to become more mindless drones for Sarum and some already paint us red for retaliation? We are red, but we are red with anger, red with rage and soon, if things are not resolved, red with blood. We will have our eye unless House Sarum stands down.
The Republic leadership is the most sympathetic to the mindset of the Ushra’Khan that it has ever been and it’s still not good enough for you.
The only thing that is good enough, is action to prevent the illegal enslavement of those within the Floseswin system. There is no question what must be done should Sarum not stand down. No debate to be mindlessly held here, only action to save our people from the tyranny that threatens them and retaliation should Sarum press on. If House Sarum ignores the giant political breach that they pursue, then as will we.
Where are the Republic Fleet blockades that were so quick to form earlier in the year?
Ushra’khan is partly responsible. If not for your idiotic treaty, this doesn’t happen. Don’t go getting indignant and putting on airs after getting what you wanted: a change in the status quo.
If anything this treaty has prevented the usual harm of thousands that would have died fighting over these systems as is usual. Now a near unfathomable number of innocents are at stake and you, like many here, do nothing but point the finger. The only ones to blame for this are House Sarum. Paint us what ever colour you wish, we have our people in mind and will do what needs to be done to keep them from harm and their minds free.
So which is it? Has this change reduced the loss of life, or increased it? You can’t have it both ways.
Frankly, I’d like to see Karin Midular taken out and shot, but I’d settle for someone tabling a motion of no confidence in Parliament. The leadership of the Republic needs to understand that men and women of conscience cannot stand by while their kinsfolk are sold out by the people who are supposed to represent them. We have to speak and we have to act.
The Republic does not have an absolute right to exist at the expense of its people.
It has a MANDATE to look after them.
If the Republic is just going to become a surrogate of the Empire, then what exactly are you supporting?
Either look after the People. Or the People will look after themselves, by any means necessary.
I know all about the ‘peace’ you talk about. The peace you talk about while you lay comfy in your bed at night. Whilst you let slaver gangs raid daily as our borders are kept open , whilst the government you so support deals in the blood of our children for profit and industry and gets their assassins to silence anyone who dares stand against them and in the frontline defending them, is you, their little puppet. Working hard to dishonour those who rise up and call for action when they cannot block the screams of our familes out no longer for the sake of your peace!
Diplomacy has its time and place. The time for peace is over, if the republic is to stand for anything other than a rotting carcass of a once great people. I will not allow the agents of the empire to condemn our people to whither away into nothing whilst that Republic preaches peace as the best course of action.
These are all Ushra’Khan members speaking for a change in the regime, asking Midular to be replaced with Shakor and the parliament with a more “traditional” tribal structure.
Let me ask you folks, now, this: Was it worth it? Did you get what you wanted?
Else
Of course they can, they want to provoke an escalation. Even the most simple among them cannot possibly think that threatening Lord Sarum will make him back down, or have forgotten what happened last time Mekhios was attacked.
The only possible conclusion I can draw from their words and their actions is that they are seeking imperial reprisal to rally others to their cause, consequences be damned.
A dead Heir showed up with a magical superweapon? Somehow, I doubt that trick gets repeated.
Besides, biochemical agents are all the rage now, haven’t you heard? Any tourist or visiting bureaucrat could be the weapon of choice.
