Heâs talking lots of smart in this one âŚ
⌠but the true highlight are the memes heâs showing.
I wish I could post the one Iâve been laughing hardest about, but thatâd just get me banned.
I donât think I did the best job communicating my point. But whatever; itâs not important.
Thanks for checking out my stuff though.
Shocking. A game based around a monthly subscription doesnât provide all game content to people who donât pay the monthly subscription.
This is not regular monthly content though. I just wondered if CCP was making the right choice with regards to the event.
Well, the more accessible content is, the more you have to tone down challenge and rewards, which reduces how many older players want to run it. Thus, itâs difficult to make content that is accessible and appealing to everyone, and alphas have gotten newbro oriented events in the past.
Of course, CCP has frequently designed different sites and activities for events (which includes this event). Thus, they probably could have designed something that was alpha/newbro friendly (and probably implemented gate restrictions to keep the vets out).
That being said, should CCP make sure that newbros and alphas can always participate? I donât know. I couldnât participate in the first event that I heard about, but it interested me. So, I made sure that I could participate in the next one. Thus, itâs also possible that making it difficult for alphas to participate might encourage some people to go Omega.
So what? It is only one aspect of many options for event items, the rest of which are alpha friendly.
They also are barred from half the daily login rewards, so itâs not like there isnât some precedence.
Heck, Iâm omega, but havenât ever gone down the mining path, so I canât even do the ice mining without changing up my training queue.
So its a related fact you can either acknowledge or calm your hyper-confrontational self down about. Or throw a hissy fit. Roll onthe ground flailing your arms and legs and see if I care. Maybe mommy will explain that you can just ignore what you donât care about.
Good job ignoring the substance of the rebuttal.
Historically EVERY event has left alphaâs out of at least some aspect of the event. Every event has had an alpha and omega tier of daily logins.
This time around they gave multiple avenues of activites you can choose from. Nothing says you should be able to do all of them, regardless of whether you are alpha and omega.
Thank you.
Since you are replying to me with more attempts to create confrontation via acting as if I said or meant things I didnât, I will ignore the rest as well.
But since it seems you missed it:
Yea I think giving more choices is a right choice. The problem will always be that people forget that a choice also involves a choice in not doing something.
There have been people who complained about the daily âkill X NPC for SPâ events earlier in the year. Their claim was feeling pressured to log in every day on all of their accounts. However it is a perfectly valid choice to ignore them. I did because at the time I was busy.
Addictions are real but its hard to know what to do about it sometimes. I also have to default to âfind some willpowerâ if I am going to default anywhere though. Its not like CCP makes money by making content that isnât compelling. They have to do what they can to get people to keep coming back.
Of course part of that is also denial of alphas certain content. I appreciate the fact they have to try and balance between giving too much and giving too little. I doubt they know exactly where the line is either.
i really wish Alpha players would concentrate on the many, many, MANY things they CAN do, rather than obsess about the things that are gated behind Omega status.
if you really want to mine as an alpha, you can. you can even earn more isk/hour than an Omega in a Hulk. Itâs known as Ninja Gas Harvesting. You do it in a Venture.
You know, people are like cows. âGrass is always greener on other side of the fenceâ.
Alphas have access to Scanning and Combat for the event. They will not be able to mine ice, since their skills preclude access to any harvesting drones. Ice, Ore or Salv.
Interesting to be quoted in here. It was half-hearted when I originally posted that. I would point out is that âan indefinite trailâ is a misnomer. As I recall, it was also mooted when Alphas where first discussed that it enabled long term players whoâd fallen on hard-times the ability to continue participation in New Eden.
But cycling back to the ideal. In original trial account, players could train into mining frigates and cruisers. But look at the difference. A mining frigate of yesteryear maxed equalled 4 mining lasers and the osprey (as the optimum choice) maxed to 6. Or 1.5 times the yield. But when you compare the Venture to the barges, the difference is 3 times or greater.
I argued back in the alpha beginning, that the account is a consumer not a producer. If you want to mine as activity, then use the venture. Box ticked. If you want isk? Then shoot something or courier something. I would go even further requesting that mining lasers have restrictions to the ORE Frigates. Similar to how Strip Miners are restricted. On the other hand I have asked for Outer Ring LP to be accessed/available in high sec space. So I am not the bluest meanie.
Even omegas are complaining that event challenges they donât have the skills for are clogging up their challenge list to the point they cannot move forward. For alphas its much worse because they donât even have the option to train for ice mining unless they go omega.
This might be intentional as it not only pushes alphas to go omega, but it also pushes omegas to buy dual skill training to get their alts progressing in the event.
This content is not obligatory. Also Christmas in the north means snow for most. Or excessive raining for me, but ice fits.
I still remember you got 14 days to figure you liked it or not and that was it. This new non-expiring trial now seems to be getting somewhat extravagant.
Just an old playerâs perspective. :-/
Yes indeed. The Venture is an excellent ship, and it is affordable. You can take risks with it and if you lose one, itâs not a big deal. With proper fittings it can be very lucrative to mine in systems down to 0.5. Alphas can have a great deal of fun by mining and by producing and selling frigates, destroyers, etc.
actually going in LS and eating kernite in a venture is waay more worth than staying in HS.
