When people talk about Coreli and their “pharma research”, are they meaning the Serpentis-aligned group of capsuleers ? Joshua Foiritain’s outfit, isn’t it ?
Yes.
We won’t even get into the whole ‘money is fungible and the Serpentis are business partners with the Angels so guess who’s supporting slavers’ aspect of it all.
I see. Well, I, for one, was not aware that Coreli did any pharmaceuticals research, other than marginal improvements on the handful of capsuleer usable boosters that Serpentis have deigned to release to the public market.
Similarly I am sceptical that even a long standing business association with Serpentis would allow any access to the library of goofballs research that they have accumulated.
After all, capsuleers cannot be controlled so their loyalty cannot be depended upon.
It’s why poor Anyanka Funk was so disappointed that the Covenant didn’t consider her to be one of them, and wouldn’t share their secrets with her.
Oh that. Until you mentioned it just then it hadn’t crossed my mind.
And do they give you any access to their research on cybernetics and stuff ? Like how to make Talisman implants? Those are the Covenant ones, right?
Maybe we should rename this thread “Arrendis/Mizhara: Relations”.
Can we just start a thread titled that where only Arrendis and Miz post?
One of them would have to start it, otherwise it wouldn’t be only them posting.
Yeah I suppose it’s time to address this annoyance. I do apologize for this personal life debacle repeatedly intruding on these boards. Friendships crashing and burning do leave bad tastes in people’s mouths and attempts to keep it from being a perpetual annoyance elsewhere doesn’t always seem to go anywhere.
On the other hand, when they do drag it into public with fairly ill-camouflaged intents and motivations, it’s sometimes worth responding to in the hopes that it might be left at that, but this seems to have gone spectacularly poorly in that regard, hence why I offered her the last word and leaving it at that further up, and I’ll stick with that other than this apology to the rest of these boards. This is hardly the place to air personal grievances like this, I think.
The bit of information available I was able to find on the wider GalNet says you are -
Very old information that. Keep in mind it’s close to a decade since graduation. I even started my career in space as a rather harmless miner, spending my days in a Burst in safe belts pulling in absolutely tiny amounts of ore and letting the rest of the cluster do its thing.
Things change.
I am now believed to be mid-thirties, approximated due to lack of information as to birth date and no records have so far been found of my life in the Empire. In all likelihood either destroyed by liberation attacks or possibly simply due to the embarrassment of the event that freed me.
I am a Volur trained Gripdjur, with a rather deep connection to my blood at this point, but I did indeed spend time before that as a station rat and drug addict, which left me rather… shall we say physically unimposing? Particularly when compared to the giants among the Brutor or the on average rather tall of my tribe.
Today, I pay very well for my clones, realizing the potential of my genetics and further improving them with both cybernetics and genetic modification to vastly increase muscle densities, osseous strengthening (both to a degree required just to have the current custom cybernetics function) and so on. I believe current scans claim my clones are roughly three times the mass that the volume normally indicates.
The drugged out station rat girl I once was, is quite literally not even a fifth of the woman I am now.
Out of curiosity, where did you find that information? It must be rather old. Some ancient fan portal or something?
Fair enough.
The information could be rather old and was found among a collection of ‘known’ information about several capsuleers from throughout the cluster.
Fair enough. Perhaps I have been derelict in my duties to keep public information - old collections included - up to date.
(( Good grief there’s a lot of threads containing this kind of stuff, compiling over a decade. I’ll see if I can find and edit them all accordingly but will in all likelihood miss most of them. I do try to keep any changes to the character developmental ones that make sense, but sod knows if I even remember everything going on over that kind of time span. Edit edit: I have now found and updated at least two of these, including the one used. Should be more up to date than seven years ago now. ))
Human beings are a tribal species, although the name of the tribes we are part of can all come with different names: nation-state; ethnicity; political party; clan; sporting team; capsuleer alliance; Imperial House; or in the case of the Caldari State – Megacorporation. It is a human desire to want to feel to belong to something, to be part of something greater than oneself, and in so doing self-identify as being part of a group and part of its historical, cultural and political narrative along with others within that group.
Within the Caldari State, the primary cultural and political unit is the Megacorporation. Each one is in effect a Caldari nation in its own right with no true fixed borders because a corporation is, in the case of borders, a trans-national entity. This was a source of fundamental disagreement with the Gallente and later the Federation – they believed the only legitimate political entity was a democratic nation-state and refused to recognize the nature of Caldari Megacorporations as Caldari nation-states in their own right in which billions of Caldari over centuries had come to identify as part of, pledge their allegiance towards, and felt particularly patriotic of. Patriotic enough to be willing to spill their blood to ensure Megacorporate self-determination and independence.
The State as it exists is particularly weak when it comes to central governance, there is not even a central government separate from the corporate-states from which it is composed. The State, such as it exists provides for a common defense and foreign/trade policy since it’s easier to negotiate one agreement as opposed to eight different ones, and really that’s about it. The entire reason for this is that the crux of war with the Federation to begin with was about the rights and independence of corporate states not just from foreign imposition, but also from each other. It is inherently difficult to speak of a single unified culture within the State since it’s not top down, but the end result of the interactions of the corporate states within it and the partisanship of differing and agreeing worldviews and interests of those who identify with those entities.
In my case, I suppose one can take the Veikitamo out of Kaalakiota, but one cannot take the Kaalakiota out of Veikitamo. I believe that achievement and success are to be pursued for their own sake because that is part of the Struggle of the Mountain; that even if your fingers bleed and the cold cuts your skin you must never stop climbing towards a summit you know you will never, and cannot reach. For it is through external hardships, the seeking and overcoming of challenges that internal weaknesses are fully disabused of their false hold over the self and one can listen with clarity to the Winds that teach us. If you are going to do something, then you should always seek to be the best you can be at it, irrespective of whether it is soldiering or trolling, because you don’t get to the top and stay there by being bad and expecting the sympathy or pity of others to hold your hand. Equally so, you should not afford sympathy or pity to others because that breeds only dependency. Offer to teach, offer encouragement when it is warranted and others will either learn or they don’t, and if they don’t learn and continue to fail then they deserve whatever they get.
Because life is war; and the only options you have in the continued struggle to survive is to have the strength required to survive and to keep on living or total annihilation at the hands of others.
Interesting, I pay quite a lot of ISK to hide my implants and use more subtle enhancements to maximize my physical abilities.
You know, I have none of that cyberprosthetic malarkey. Frankly, I don’t see the point of such things. I am a capsuleer. I have staff to violence people and so on. I don’t do it myself.
Pff, I even have staff to type things on the IGS, isn’t that right, typing slave. Finish the post with a profound statement if you would. Try not to make me sound pompous. Or arrogant. Or condescending.
I bestride the IGS like an intellectual colossus, towering over lesser peons.
But sometimes I enjoy “violencing” people. besides, I am not always in my pod so I feel the need for some basic security measures.
I kind of split the difference.
Security’s for security personnel to see to. If there’s a situation that wants a squad, it should really get a squad-- with backup. And a lot of the time, just having someone important out in the open … wants a squad.
But, (1) that’s not always practical (or, sometimes, possible); (2) it’s hard to outfit baseliners to really be ready against all the transhumanist stuff capsuleers and similarly-equipped people can get up to; and (3) I kind of have a security role, myself. I can’t really just assume that I’ll never need to fulfill the sharper end of my duties personally.
Most of my clones are designed with the possibility of needing to take down someone else like me (or, more worryingly, like you or Thal) in mind.
I would like to mention that I have had advanced combat training from a young age that makes my close combat skills somewhat above average, but I mostly train for fighting outnumbered and outgunned and I use a modified clone soldier clone for when I am out of my pod for extended periods of time.
You know, discussions like these make me really glad my clones are designed to… be me. And, you know, bring tools for fixing crap. Honestly, you folks are just way too obsessed with violence for me.
It’s for personal protection mostly because I don’t have absolute confidence in my security personnel and I’m really paranoid. Besides, with all the modifications I’ve done to myself my clones are a lot like me
