why are you so pushy over wanting meta modules… most are not needed… is it because they are cheaper than the regular is that why?
Module variants make ship fitting more interesting and sexy
For example a Tech II reactive armor hardener would be cool. As well as a compact and enduring version.
I agree that having multiple module variants is nice.
I even agree that it’s good to have standardization and I think that CCP should finally finish tiericide to standardize the last remaining meta modules that still use the old design.
However I also think that too much standardization could make a game bland and less interesting. Standardized design is a good foundation, but exceptions and unique items make a game interesting.
And about that reactive armor hardener: people hardly use the T1 version of that. It’s unique enough already, no need to put a bunch of meta modules of it on the market that will almost always be scrapped for minerals.
I dont see anything wrong with scrapping meta modules. In fact i was thinking that helps the player industry.
If the Tech I Reactive Armor Hardener is hardly being used that seems like an argument to make a Tech 2 version (And metas)
The reason it’s rarely used isn’t that it isn’t strong, it’s that it’s very situational.
And most people won’t use situational modules except in rare situations. Which means these meta module drops will rarely be used and mainly be used to be scapped for minerals.
This undermines the role of miners in the game, who are supposed to be the foundation of the EVE economy.
Adding meta and Tech II variants of more modules does not mean scrapping and as a result mineral supply will increase
Meta variants of reactive armor hardeners will definitely be scrapped the majority of times.
This is an increase of mineral supply, unless you’re taking these minerals away elsewhere in the game.
You dont know if it will be scrapped most of the time. It depends on the drop rate among other things. Besides it will be added to the loot table so it will drop in place of something else if and when it drops. In other words it doesent result on more loot it just becomes more varied.
Drop rate is only relevant if the usage rate was more than “it has been ages since I saw someone use it”.
Whenever one of these things drops people will either scrap it or sell it to someone who scraps it.
How do you know?
When was the last time you equipped a reactive armor hardener instead of a damage control and lost it?
It is not the base reactive hardener that will be dropping it will be the meta variant which is better, you don’t know if people will scrap those
The reactive armor hardener is a niche alternative to the damage control that only surpasses the damage control for armor ships in sustained fights, by design.
The meta module wouldn’t have a different niche and this is a small niche so yes, I know people will scrap those.
The degree to which they get scrapped is depenent on supply and demand. You can have low demand and them still not being scrapped.
A near-zero drop rate would still be too high if the usage rate is near zero too.
No, that would be balanced
No, it would mean the demand for the modules would be too low to profitably stock a market with them anywhere outside Jita, so most people will scrap them.
I mean not every module has to be sold only in Jita and not scrapped but you still dont know that will be the case
Why would someone try to sell items outside Jita when there’s near-zero demand for those items?
They might be happy to provide niche items outside of Jita
