Krabbers don’t be too excited. CCP can also mess ypur krabbing experience😉
Even suicide gankers are not safe🙂
[To prevent this from having a major effect on active players, a new buff will be applied upon recent activation of your cloak which will offer resistance against the Mobile Observatory.] Nice to know.
There have always been solutions to cloaked campers (afk or not). Admittedly, they aren’t easy to do, and apparently most people don’t even try to find/execute these solutions. It’s far easier to whine about it until finally, after years, ccp gives in to the laziness of a subgroup.
Sure, while No Local may be fun for hunters, the episode in 2019 showed that others were not so amused, numbers dropped and activity went down in nullsec. Not everyone has the stomach, or the time, to deal with no local intel. Fair enough. For wormholers that is not an issue, it’s what they chose to do and they come prepared. The fact that the mobile observatories can be deployed even in wormholes shows the real intention, doesn’t it. It’s the very last place one would think these damned things should be deployable at all. Perhaps that too costs too much valuable dev time to make fair and balanced ?
The meek shall inherit New Eden and mess up the economy
New Eden a dark and dangerous, chaotic place ? Well, Hilmar, how about it ? You like this ?
It’s been almost half a year since I’ve came back to Eve . Last time I have stopped playing because of the farmville and capital proliferation changes in 2016 . The changes Eve got in the last half a year since I came back, are no better, and they are just a recipe for disaster . I have hoped for the better, but only to get the worst, with what we have now I can say that I have won Eve permanently:
I really think this structure is a bad thing. The “problem” that this thing seems to be addressing is “people feel unsafe in nullsec”. People are supposed to feel unsafe in nullsec!
But let’s assume this is going in any way. I think there’s one major improvement that can be made to these things. The stated goal is more active gameplay? Well make the structure require active gameplay as well! Give the structure a 10 minute deploy timer and a 10 minute cool down. Once the cooldown is up, make the deploying players come back and press a button. It seems only fair that if the cloaky camper has to press a button every 10 minutes, that the decloakers should have to do the same. No automatic gameplay, right?!
This change might even make it reasonable to allow multiple of them to be active in a system at any given time.
Also to be addressed is how different classes of ships use cloaks in different situations. I think battlecruisers and above should be immune from the structure. They’re not the sort of thing that gets deployed to cloaky camp, but sometimes when you’re trying to sneak your stuff around you need to cloak up for a while when your sneaking gets interrupted. Given the drawbacks of cloaks, I think they’re already well balanced for hiding from stuff and that this is a separate type of activity than the one theis change is trying to address.
I like this cloak nerf. It will inspire me to think additonal cloaking strategy. One naughty strategy is mobile observatory hunting🙂. We can probe it and shoot it right?
I know it sounds ridiculous, but somehow even ganktards themselves don’t classify themselves as people, and thus forget that they too should feel unsafe, according to the quoted statement, yet that doesn’t stop them from demanding safety privileges, granted to them by CCP when they pretty much killed bubbles, and gave them free escape filaments, which made me never form against roams again (they’ll just pop filament, slap smug “gf” in chat, and leave you feeling like a moron for forming for them).
Otherwise, I’m of course disappointed as usual. The OBVIOUS problems with it:
Another buff to botting. AFK camper may be rekt, AFK camper with recloakbot 1.0 is 100% safe. Well, we’re used to that in the recent eve, where a bot is a more welcome customer than a player is. Kinda saw that coming.
I don’t know stats, but 30k hp with a beacon means it’s another thing that is simply put, undefendable. It’s the same issue as with protecting mining barges - you can have your entire super fleet on grid, that won’t stop some a-hole from driving by, alphaing your barge, and zipping out before he’s even locked. Same thing would happen to that.
Also, to all the people complaining about bubbles: STAHP.
Bubbles cannot be humanly managed anymore. They take AGES to deploy and anchor, and then you gotta redeploy them every few days, making them just an expensive space doodle that takes as much as a real job to manage in terms of time. Unless someone managed to bot bubble deployment too, you won’t see more than a few cheap bubbles, ever. And you know where that someone lives (and the language he speaks, ni hao).
CCP When making these radical updates do you ever wonder if beginners will be happy? Or does everything just have to stay in favor of only big Corps? Personally I know players who have bought 1 year or more of subscription and are very dissatisfied with these news (“I’m disappointed with this game”) answers from players with 200+ days of E.V.E.
99% will use the test server to see the update (players with full years’ experience)
The inexperienced in this game will be left speechless when they see (who train skills for Interceptor / Covert Ops) everything changed
With great respect I greet you, and every now and then you also think of the people who do not participate in such discussions for the simple fact: new or inexperienced player. “At least that E.V.E wants to be a private game”
I am not against the choices, I simply want to share the essence of many discussions made
I’m not sure what your point is? But roaming cloaked is pointless because of local. There’s nothing covert about free, effortless, real-time intel from local about the presence of neutrals
MAKE A GODDAMNED TIMER, you’ll see people actively defending their space.
Demand people to actively defend only to see you filament away at the first d-scan of defenders is a scam. Remove filaments, and people will start forming for roamers again, not before that.
-anticloakthing is deploied
-after 10-30min it activates/pulses
-all cloaked ships in system get a popup
–ones that click popup will have no effect
–ones that dont click will be decloaked
-anticloakthing goes offline (reusable even)
this should have the following effects:
-afk campers will be decloaked and will sit there for anyone to probe down(since they dont click the popup and dont recloak)
-other cloakers will click popup therefore wont decloak even if in the middle of an aproach
-ratters will have a 100% chance to decloak and probe down any afk-ers, redoable every 10-30min(none of the random chance bulllshit)
notes
as long its has a 10-30min delay and only 1/system active at the time, it wont be spammed to flood ppl with popups
hell it may even have infinite hp, makes no difference
also, no need for the 15min immunity to it
also, much simpler system for newppl to get
Responding to a timer isn’t actively defending your space
Roamers should be able to burn the fields if the occupants are cowardly hiding in the station
Why should defenders have 24 hours to plan, form and respond to hostilities in a blobby fashion?
Sorry but removing filaments isn’t the answer, I played long before filaments were a thing. It’s not like that’s dramatically altered defensive game play. Why would roamers want to filament away anyway, they’re looking for fights, blobbing or directly countering their ship comps would be the reason. In which case you could try taking a more reasonable fight. Irrespective, that’s not how I use them anyway and would happily see them nerfed if we see a delayed local or way to disable ratting/mining opportunities for a couple of hours unless defenders rage respond
