Monthly Economic Report - December 2024

PLEX briefly peaked at 6.4m this week (currently hovering around 6.3m). It should edge up a bit higher when the 25% off PLEX sale ends shortly (the 50% Omega+MCT sale will probably see a final push in the next 24-48 hours).

I think we’re going to be looking at a PLEX price around 6.5m by the end of February (barring any extraordinary PLEX sales). The sheer amount of ISK being printed in null-sec from ratting is starting to become mind-boggling (and this is one direct factor putting pressure on PLEX prices).

I find this funny about nullers like @Ivan_Grzonka

@Syzygium is correct,

its a systemic issue for the entire game…
No one even newer players want to play the game…they just want an ISK counter…and do not want to put any effort into their game play.

Yes it is. Everything has become stupid expensive to replace, so everyone is relegated to a large segment of PvE just to subsidize their gameplay (let alone PLEX’ing their account). When you spend the 1-2+ hours of free time you have just grinding ISK, it doesn’t leave a lot of time left for loftier ambitions.

And combat is far from the N+1 it once was. Either you’re part of the blob or you’re being blobbed. The word “overkill” doesn’t even remotely apply anymore. The only way I can describe it is a flock of seagulls fighting over a french fry in a McDonald’s parking lot. “Mine, mine, mine!”

No one really wants to fight over anything because it’s either not worth (scarcity) it or it’s far too much effort to organize anything. There’s also the aforementioned issue of everything being too expensive to replace.

its not stupid expensive…
do a few missions, buy a bpo
make some copies
do a few more missions…
mine some ore
grind down teh loot
grind up the ore
voila…you have resources to build a ship at 10x cheaper than jita sell orders…

learn to play

and if someone gets in your way…
build some cats…they cost 52,000 ISK at an NPC station to build each…
T1 guns, faction ammo…
Gank them…

Learn to play the game…

You want a proper corp or alliance…want to create content…
Plan ahead, and not 1-2 weeks ahead…
Learn to play the game…

It still doesn’t change the point that @Syzygium made: EVE is stagnating. Doing all of the things you mentioned won’t change that (because most probably already are).

it actually would, cause ppl would get antsy and angry at competition and do something about it like back in the old days.

Most everyone is not doing this…they are crying about ISK per hour and not wanting to play cause they do not know how…you supposed to step on people that are not blue to you if you want more with any means possible.

If players are focused on ISK/hour then this is synonymous with a level of stagnation and apathy. I really don’t have any suggestions on how to reinvigorate the game with respect to competition - other than it seems few players want to actually risk anything.

ive had a few, wont exactly reinvigorate…but might help to start balancing the ships ballast …

you have seen 1 of them in the war dec is broken thread.

Edit: That idea i had before CCP decided on a similiar route for nullsec, introducing limitations to systems and assets and stuff. I think its a good direction to shake up nullsec, and hopefully sooner rather than later the null groups will die out…or they will get leaner and meaner and start shooting each other…as Alliances, instead of huge null blocs.

Not exactly sure what you mean by this. So, it sounds like your in favor of scarcity (or at least some form of it)? I’m not sure the Metanox moon mining was a step in the right direction, though. We seem to have traded active (player) income for passive (automated) income.

In Oz’s latest report he indicated that moon minerals have taken a bath - so it will be interesting to see the January MER.

no,
I am in favor of active game play.

Not AFK play, nor playing simply for ISK…

game play for a reason greater than one’s self…
ambitious game play…
ruthless game play…

EvE is supposed to be a Dystopian Universe…

but right now the playerbase makes it look like Candyland or shutes and laddeers…

especially the nullsec line members that are crying right now.

Metanox drills definitely run counter to this. I don’t know enough about the other null-sec implementations and changes in Equinox/Revenant to comment. The only “crying” that I’m aware of (via Reddit) seems to be from the mining community.

What are null leaders supposed to do though???

They got hamstrung at first trying to adapt to the new power and resource system per system that CCP created…

And they were not hamstrung by the new game play…they were hamstrung by their membership that believe too much in the ISK per hour method of play, the ones that do not want to put any effort into stuff like @Ivan_Grzonka above.

If it was me, whether or not it killed the corp or alliance i would kick them and shoot them for even thinking of being entitled let alone acting like it.

I really can’t comment on the state of most null-sec players. Boosting ratting bounties certainly didn’t help… (the Nov-Dec MER numbers bear that out). I’m not sure how you kick active players who aren’t “playing” the game the way you want (not trying to suggest that your “way” is wrong, but you have to admit there’s already an established culture in null-sec). It’s pretty hard to attract new players to the game - let alone those few that stick it out to an alliance.

no it did not, it did not help them 1 bit…they are still crying.

Instead of crying about isk, the ones doing that…should learn how to help them selves and their groups by doing something… ISK will always fall in your lap…by the bucket loads if you dont focus on it.

yep the “rorqual age” created a bunch of entitled leeches instead of knowledgable warriors, null groups took all they could, mass recruited from HS, day 1 old players, created marketing campaigns based on it…and those once entitled starry eyed recruits are now the ones being dead weight.

I think miners (and I’m more referring to the smaller operators here) have a legitimate gripe (not saying it’s entirely justified, but we went from a passive to an active system literally overnight). Anything that disincentivizes players from logging in is never a great idea long-term.

:man_shrugging:

maybe, maybe not…
CCP trying to change how the game is viewed and played,
Whether that means promoting more active play…
Making it more annoying for botting…
Making it more annoying for entitled null bears…

it was a long time in coming, CCP should of done it sooner.

They made a mistake by throwing null-sec a bone in the form of those exaggerated ratting bounties. I don’t know how they change it back now without massive backlash.

simple…
They dont, and move on to whatever their next step in their plans are.

I guess we’ll get a hint of that later this week…
