Why not move the Chat Window from the Eve to its own client which you can activate from the launcher where you choose you character before going into the actual game. This way you could run it on a second screen or even not have it on at all.
Because the chat server is already overstressed as it is?

It is already on its own server on a powerful (or so we were told) AWS server. You see what it lead to.
