FC…Please consider implementing a multiple account stacking de-buff.
To start, I am thinking…
-5% damage for 2+ accounts for PVE that are in the same solar system.
-7% mining loss for 3+ accounts for Mining that are in the same solar system.
-10% damage/EWAR effectiveness loss per account for PVP that are in the same solar system.
The power projection that a single person can project is beyond reasonable.
In my idea, multiple account owners would receive no de-buff on a designated primary account. Upon launching 2 or more accounts incurs this penalty.
Enforcement, any person circumventing this by using VPN’s, Virtual Machines, input broadcasting, KVM’s would be subject to a temporary ban.
Alternatively, and likely more difficult to adopt; would be to create a multiple account client where multi-boxers can attach additional characters in the same solar system to a primary ‘wing commander’ who adopts the additional characters/accounts/ships into its squadron; but each additional ship in that wing incurs a stacking de-buff per character up to 90%.
Inb4 the usual ‘it can’t be done’ and ‘but what about the 5 brothers???’ people show up
@topic not convinced that a ‘debuff penalty’ is the right way to do it, but yeah I agree that mass multiboxing is an increasing problem that should be adressed in one way or the other.
This already kind of happens when multiboxing anyway.
One person boxing three Guardians in a fleet isn’t as effective as three individual Guardians being singleboxed. It’s probably about as good as ~2 to 2 1/2 Guards.
Ditto for applying dps. Damage will tend to dribble in from a multiboxer rather than a single wallop alpha strike. You can see this on ganked freighter killmails. The top damage catalyst/ bomber is doing considerably more damage than the lowest damage on the killmail. Cycling through clients takes time.
Personally, I’m only good for ~3 mainline accounts on a PvP fleet along with maybe a prober and a dictor. Much more than that and I’m not really being very effective with the additional accounts.
The game just dont want to reward single account Brothers. If they wanted to do that we need more abyss content with a better payout. Reward single boxing more would be the way out big operations.
But as u already mentioned. People with bigger pockets get more rewards. It is basically the same as in any other game. Don’t race with other people. Take on ur own way and embrace it ur way.
Also the big guys pays for ur playtime also. They might keep prices for Plex and game time low. So don’t hit to hard on them. They are ur allies more than u might think.
That depends on the setup and scenario. Sure, there is a bit of overhead, especially in the beginning of a fight, but there is very little problem in large fights to bring 10 of the same damagedealers and just active the guns on some big target to apply pressure (aka the need to constantly keep reppers on it). Often seen at stationfights, where people multibox 10 cruise Ravens, Apocs etc, brick-tanked and remoterepped by others.
Same goes for the usual 1-Basi (with TP) + 8 Alligators (with RR on the Basi) setups, assigning Drones to the Basi. Thats 9 chars and an immense firepower with nearly no downside once set-up. Two of such multiboxers can hard-pressure even a group of ~10 real players, especially given the fact that they can coordinate and log in their “fleet” waaaaaaay easier than 10 real people can.
Again: Not saying there are no downsides. There are. And the situations and setups differ in effectivity. But the general problem is there and it scales too easy, too hard. The curve for diminishing returns should be steeper, like in your Guardian example. But thats better achieved through good combat-mechanics rather than hard-coded “debuffs for alts”.
Yeah and can we introduce a -20% damage buff to whoever first 100mn Ab on a Cruiser hull and another -20% for anyone that fits a single Nano module on any ship. With stacking up instead of down. so 2 Nano is -50%. I feel like going fast is not punished enough in the game.
Also can we have a -20% speed bonus anyone entering an ESS that is not in their own SOV?
Might as well
PS: I hate that ppl who dont want multiboxing probably never mined ever in eve. Because if they did they would know how little it makes. And why there is a need to multibox it. Or that they never think about the consequences if multiboxing is punished. Like do you want 1,5b T1 battleship hulls or what? Do you want empty systems? Nothing to hunt for because everyone docks and too scared to use their now overpriced everything? I feel like ppl who ask for such things dont realise that 60% of concurrent players are alts. Even the ELITE solo pvp players of youtube use more than a single character for their SOLO pvp… Im SOLO with my Curse alt… Im SOLO with my Ceptor alt because everything runs from me… Im SOLO with my Links alt… Im SOLO with my Augoror cap transfer alt…
Im not saying that eve is better because we multibox. Im saying Eve is too niche of a game for us to not multibox anymore because otherwise we would need 3 times as much actual player we have now ofr it not to be miserable pile of goop that drives away everyone. We still here to have fun. Mining 15 years alone to afford a Titan sounds like a LOT OF FUN to me…
I’ll grant that a drone bunny setup is the easiest way of applying multibox dps. If the enemy is coming to you, then you’ll apply well as soon as they land.
If you’re going to the enemy, the setup phase can take a while.
I krab C5 sites with a combination of an Eos, Leshaks and a Nestor. Getting fully setup with the cap chain and all drones assigned to the Eos after landing in a new site takes a couple minutes.
Sure, the on grid performance of 10 multiboxed ships isn’t as high as the on grid performance of 10 ships piloted by 10 different people.
But that is missing the point. Because the on grid performance isn’t the problem. The problem is that the complexity of coordinating 10 real people to even form this fleet in a specific situation is magnitudes higher. And that means the multiboxer(s) get have an extreme mathematically and statistically increased chance to create a situation which is in their favour. And thats something you shouldn’t be able to do with money/grind. It devalues strategical planning and internal organization of groups.
As i said. You get us 200k actual players to start playing eve and we can maybe think about getting rid of multiboxing.
The planning is hard because the usual size of players that closely play together is closer to 5… Not because eve doesnt have enough players. And nothing to do with multiboxing either. But usually over 5 the noise is too much. But that doesnt mean you cant get 10 individual ppl to do something or that a single player will do that any more efficiently or prepare faster.
Yes i agree that if i decide to bash my head against the wall i will be ready faster than trying to convince 10 other ppl to bash theirs with me. But this is not something that needs fixing. This is something that lets me play the game without waiting for 9 other players to get dressed.
To put it simply. The time a filament gang prepares does not matter to the ratting person who on the receiving end of a filament drop to him its 1 second even if preparing and getting ppl ready took an hour. And he doesnt have an hour to get 10ppl ready because his money will be gone in 5 minute 30 seconds. If you implement game mechanics that borderline force you to multibox or it devalues ur time invested then you get multiboxing.
There are multiple game mechanics that borderline force you to multibox. CCP encourages multiboxing. So stop asking for a nerf or the TOTAL removal of it. Its degeneracy at this point.
Strawman. I haven’t asked for that. And I will absolutely not stop asking for taking measures against massmultiboxing.
It’s the other way round. This game will continue to lose real players and being dependent on multibox accounts, the longer nothing is done. Because there simply is a break-even point where visible and omnipresent mass-accounting makes the game so unattractive for normal players, they neither stay for long or don’t even join in the first place.
But then change how the game works. Not how multiboxing works. There is a need for multiboxing because of how the game works. Obviously if i can mine a reasonable amount with 1 character. And then still be able to pvp with that character later. While doing other things so its not too stale then yes.
But the problm stems from the fact that i need to put 50 hours of gameplay into 3 hours so i can enjoy the 4. As long as the game functions around this people are forced to multibox.
And im not talking about ppl who input broadcast. Ban them. But if you legit can manage to run 20 characters in a fleet. Thats impressive.
Make my time invested worth it on a single character so i dont have to use 5 or 10.
And this is not a multiboxing issue. This is a long issue with eve. Thats why ppl stopped playing when scarcity was introduced. And thats why CCP had to backpedal so fast. There is a breaking point for each of us where we say okay, its not worth my effort anymore and i will look for dopamine somewhere else. We try to stay under this by using multiple accounts to cut that time down.
The most fun everyoneh ad was when rorquals were broken and a battleship hull was 60m. Because we could pvp to our leisure and not worry about how will i recoupe that amount of isk.
You introduce a mining penalty and the result will be more mining characters. I tought thats obvious.
You introduce a damage or ewar penalty and the answer will be one extra ship to mitigate it.
You don’t need to argue against windmills. Nobody asks to “completely remove” logging in more than one character. You waste your time trying to explain that many aspects of the game benefiting from having 2 or 3 toons available at the same time. Everyone knows that and basically no one is arguing against it.
You need to absolutely differentiate between the normal 1-3 char setups, which basically everyone is fine with, and the 5+ farming/grinding/ganking/droneassistpvp setups that scale too high and scale too easy in terms of raw power per person involved.
Then read what this post is about. Maybe. I dont know.
3 account already at -% damage.
4 miner already at -% mining.
-10% EWAR PER account
I dont know why you try to argue with me. Argue with how low intelligence this post is.
And crying about ppl driving 15 ships and using drone bunny is SKILL ISSUE. That sounds like you lost to a setup like that and want it gone so you only need 5 of ur buddies to deal with whoever is up against you.
We talking about something thats is not a problem for anyone other than ppl who dont know how to deal with it. The same sized ppl driven fleet will ALWAYS win or they are incompetent. And going up against it with inferior numbers and losing doesnt mean its their fault for driving 15 ships at once. Its urs for not bringing more.
PS: Also what does any of this have to do with being in the same solar system and why try to punish PVE and Mining if pvp is the problem? What if i run 50 Ishtars all in different systems. Thats fine right? Why? This is why this post is low intelligence.
At least you didn’t post it in the right forum section - so it will never be looked into anway. Seems even a little quick research on the forums structure was too much for you.
Oh yeah and i should add my thoughts about your idea anyway. They go along this line:
