I have been waiting what feels like probably a decade for native linux support. I played this for a little bit a long time ago but wine was too unpredictable and performance was terrible. Now that we have AI can yall consider porting tthis over? A simple Appimage would be a perfect package so you don’t have to worry about all the different distributions. I know there are guides everwhere for using wine but I don’t want to have to go back and read updated ones and hack around with my system everytime wine updates.
AI would probably make porting this trivial now and it’s the only thing that keeps me from playing this. The music and atmosphere of this game just feels linux, it belongs here.
Steam’s Proton compatibility layer runs EVE on linux quite happily.

I run the client through bottles. It uses significantly less CPU and RAM. With less swapping too.
How do I do such a thing?
I have plenty of ram, but my cpu is getting long in the tooth and regularly spikes to 100% when running all my clients.
i understand steam proton and wine can run it but i had more problems than it’s worth when I tried. And I’m on Gentoo running a non-standard desktop. If the game was native to linux I wouldn’t have nearly as many problems and there wouldn’t be distribution specific guides. I wouldn’t have to worry about DXVK, VKD3D, wine build flags, wine64 compatbility, wine prefixes, missing wine system libraries, should i use proton or bottles or wine or lutris, etc, etc, etc. It’s too much of a moving hassle to want to mess with it when all I want to do is play a game. I reinstall my OS way too often to think wine is a viable option, and for those that don’t know, steam proton and bottles are just wine wrappers.
