EVE isn’t a solo game, deal with it. Groups, especially groups of players with high skill and experience will always beat a solo player.
Yes exactly, they saw an opportunity to kill, they took it. Nothing more, nothing less. You claim to play this game for many years, you should know by now that absolutely nobody here cares the slightest to “give you a chance” or looks for “fair fights”. People play this game to just blow up the things they can and get away with their stuff as good as they can. Do you think they had complained if you were just the bait for some other group killing off their 3-man squad with 10 people? There is always a bigger fish and if you are one of the very small ones, make sure not to get caught.
But, like always: If you want to increase your chances, join a group that has experience and can offer assistance. It’s a mass multiplayer game. Your constant insisting on “yeah but I want to play solo!!!” will always cause frustration if you dip your nose into any situation that someone else can use to blow you up. Be it LS, NS, WHs or even HS under certain circumstances. EVE is not made for solo players.
It’s fine - I couldn’t care less about the loss. This was always about trying to embrace something different with the new content in Military Campaigns.
Always fun to try embracing different content than usual!
As you know I’ve been trying to do the achievement challenges lately which mostly take place in HS and have flown a lot cookie cutter fetch and kill missions all around HS for ‘epic arc missions’ and other challenges to the point that I’m feeling burned out on EVE now.
I’ll probably sell or trash all the trash I managed to gather in HS in only a few days, and clone jump back to the fun gameplay in null instead.
It’s been an interesting attempt at experiencing HS gameplay, but it felt boring to me to fly around while barely paying attention to anything I did due to the complete lack of challenge and danger during an endlesa grind that in hindight feels pointless.
HS is not my kind of gameplay.
I need a reason to stay engaged in a game. Either a good story and/or a challenge. EVE offers the last thing, but not in HS.
The possibility of sudden unintentional PvP is what makes EVE interesting to me.
Low sec is and always be (at least in its current form) the bastard child of Eve space. The risks of going there far outweigh any potential rewards. Low sec is where you go looking for fights, not to do industrial pursuits.
I think it’s hilarious that we’ve learned over time not to touch the hot stove of low sec because we’ll get burned yet, we hear the same folks preaching about continuing to touch said stove over and over again until we start to enjoy the smell of burning flesh.
lol that was funny, let’s avoid the word consensual…
EVE is not going to be better, I admit it’s hard to track the real problem, sometimes the solution is not direct related to the situation being observed.
Let’s put in a different light, just because… Let’s start with the thinking: “there’s nothing to be learned from fights you had no time to react.”
And that’s all I have to say, you can either think about it until the bottom consequences or you can keep repeating the same posts, I mean, since Exordium I dare not to say you won’t accomplish anything, you actually may.
Probably because most fights I see now are one sided meatgrinders. The winning side gets all the glory and loot, the losing side goes back to build new ships, reship, back to the grind to make another ship, only to have it blown up again and win absolutely nothing. The only reason they still play is they like spaceships in space, and have fun anyway with friends. It doesn’t matter if you’re winning big, or losing and towing all your junk halfway across the galaxy to escape total annialation.
Since the winning side never loses but maybe a few tackles or cynos they get bigger and bigger, until they’re bored with the game.
I agree with both quoted statements. In the end, theres literally no point in doing pvp, other than seeing expensive ships blown up, make yourself look cool or smarter than the other group, or a time sink that could be spent on pleasing a woman, or significant other.
No. The hunters only use overkill. If they think the fight might be tough, they call in overkill. If they cannot overkill, watch them dock up and wait.
And fourth, they could try to make you pay them for the possibility to mine in the system.
Which they did, and you refused.
Of course, there is no mechanic which would prevent them to not honor their part of the deal, but still…
I sometimes hunt in lowsec on my criminal alt. I used to give the players the option to pay me and I would honor the deal but. Most of them are AFK or open the chat and do not talk. Wast majority of those who open chat and actually talks refuses. And that one guy who actually paid me was just swearing at me and mocking me after he warped off so no I am not even trying anymore.
If they were interested in that they could’ve posted their intentions in local. They didn’t because they were always going to kill me and were just hoping I’d also fall for a ransom scam.
As I’ve said, I’ve done this song and dance before and know the outcome.
Much like our old corp where someone would catch prey and pin it till more show up for the fun. Overkill sure, hardly game breaking or against the rules. Nor even unfair. You can always join even a corp for better protection.
Impossible to take this topic seriously from an anonymous OP, imo.
If we give you the (likely undeserved) benefit of the doubt for the moment, all it really means is that it’s missing from your experience. There is quite a lot of what you’re terming “intentional” PvP taking place constantly, but presumably you are having difficulty finding it. I think this is probably a skill issue.
Space is big and dealing with the logistics of getting yourself and your ship(s) where they need to be is an important part of the game.
I have two accounts, but one of them rarely undocks. I typically fly around solo, and I do not share your difficulties. While playing solo is certainly harder, there are enough people doing so successfully that we can reasonably say it is clearly easier than you are suggesting.
If you only have 30 minutes to play, you should be logging in at the staging station you’ve already stocked in advance with a bunch of the ships you like to fly, grabbing one, and undocking.
As with so many things, the answer to all of this is, “It depends.” I think you’re likely to have that ship right up until the first time you find the “intentional PvP” you are seeking.
Difficult to say when you’ll be able to afford another, but the average FW ship tends to be a relatively cheap navy frigate, destroyer, or cruiser, and the sites are fairly lucrative. If you’re not cashflow positive doing FW then you are in the minority.
Man, I have argued here at the forums against multiple groups or individuals that all would have the potential to either harass me or my corp or pay someone to do it because they are wealthy beyond what regular players can imagine. And sometimes we argued pretty fiercly.
And guess what happened: absolutely nothing. Nobody cares for an argument here. Nobody will pay mercs to hunt you, team up to gank you, raze your nullsec station, contact your CEO and threaten him with war to kick you out, evict you from your wormhole… nothing of that actually happens.
So: Everyone using forum alts to “hide his identity” can’t be taken seriously, point. He either is a total paranoid dude living in his own bubble or knows nothing and really believes in the nonsense the talks all day long. In both cases, total waste of time.
Have you considered why players create anonymous forum characters?
Perhaps people see your forum behavior before posting with main characters. The likelihood someone on the forum will take in-game retribution is indeed minuscule. So what? That risk merely existing is sufficient justification. We refuse to risk main characters with you around, hence forum alts. We will not give free target intel to hostile players.
I am not original or the last. Just the one currently posting. You made this common Eve forum practice. Just accept it.
No. It is not. If you have something to say, say it with you main. The only reason to not use your main is if you are spewing such BS, that anyone would bother to hunt you down for it or your so bad at the game, you need to hide behind an alt.
You mean like suggesting Eve Online PVP needs improvements? Or that common PVP tactics like shuttle-bombing should be eliminated? Or how gate camps interfere with player enjoyment of game content outside their home system?
