When people ask for more customization options in the UI, this means the overview, d-scan, bookmarks, probe scanner window. Being able to remove the wasted space in the drone window and being able to filter local by standings.
No, this is just someone at CCP HQ deciding EVE would be cooler with RGB support.
It did seem somewhat familiar, and in typing this the forum warned me that this topic is ‘similar to’ as below.
Did you complain about this when it was shown off at Fanfest last year? People did want this specifically. Yes, others want other UI changes that you listed, but that hasn’t been something that has been shown off and took them 6+ months extra to actually give us.
I have a background in computer science, so i can tell you that it is not some sort of black magic to have a checkbox introduced that lets you switch between the old and new icons. If i was able to choose i would also prefer and enable the old icons.
Many people voiced it. We were not given the change and i had to accept it.
Now i am not sure how the color feature was introduced at fanfest. Did they tell that you can choose that neocom stays as it is or change colors as you want? Because that is not what they delivered. They changed the base color from white to grey and now the neocom in “white” or “uncolored” is now grey. The icons are almost invisible and unusable. Also those colors when applied all look dull and weak. It is no improvement in the current state.
I want my neocom icons at least in white as before and not grey. However to be completely satisfied, i want an option to select the old icons.
It doesn’t look like much, but it is different on a live setup if you don’t have the picture zoomed into your face and if you have set your neocom to small, then with the darkened grey there is just not enough light coming through the icons to be comfortably visible. So the impact of grey vs. white is on the very border of making it unplayable.
Yeah, he should have compared the two using the same space background and not drastically different ones. Yes having a dark background will make it darker…
Malak, you do realize that the background of the icons is pitch black. The background outside and many pixels away from the symbol itself does not matter to the brightness. This is not how icon brightness works. No, you do not realize that, because you would not have written that post if you had…
Looks the same to me…congratz on being able to see more shades than others and/or complaining about very minor difference. (Not everyone’s NEOCOM background is ‘pitch black’ btw)
Get your eyes checked. Why are you comparing 2 icon rows of the same game version when I compare a pre-patch with an after-patch version? Stop your ChatGPT nonsense.
Because you claimed that background of the environment didn’t matter…I was showing that it does matter.
You are the one complaining about a possible slight change in color.
This is unnecessary, there is nothing wrong about people having different vision abilities (see the blue/black or gold/white dress), we are human afterall.
Ultimately why does this slight color change matter? It’s slight, and if it bothers you, you can now change it (with limited options yes).
The background does not matter for the objective brightness of the icons which was decreased in the recent patch. It may matter for subjective perception of how someone sees an icon but not the objective brightness.
There is no way to fix this with EVE options, and increasing the brightness value of my monitor does not fix this either (and it would create a whole lot of other issues in all kinds of completely unrelated applications).
Why it matters? Because it makes icons harder to see and recognize. Maybe not for you who can’t see a difference in a sharp decline in brightness of the icons or who thinks that the icons become brighter just because the background of the icon changed, but for more bodily apt people it’s is a problem.
People are rather upset because they wrote you a lot of text why it matters to them and you either ignore it or twist it around on purpose as it seems. First you are in complete denial of the effect and then even after the effect is explained you ask again why it matters, which was also told.
Why would botting programs care? They don’t need the brightness of the icons, they use coordinates on screen. Clueless ignorance must be bliss.
People use their PC for other things than just EVE. Must be a shocker for people like you. I work on it, play other games and enjoy entertainment with it. That would suffer from more brightness just because I had to compensate poor dev quality in EVE.
Six months is not too bad to turn around a feature, considering it took over a year for the inventory dots to become optional and almost 3 years for the tooltip nag about ‘inject still’ or ‘buy it now’ to be configurable so your market toon did not accidentally inject advanced spaceship command trying to drag it out of cargo.
