Yeah, I see that a lot too. But it’s still an even playing field. They are at least both going into the match with the idea that it is purely a pvp event.
Miners have their different toolsset in the PvP playing field while the attackers have their own different toolset.
My opinions can change is there is a sufficient argument made. I havent seen one yet though. This all basically boils down to the fact that some people think the internet and a video game absolves them of their morals and ethics irl. I’m not one of those people. I’m not trying to make any moral argument, but I am making an ethical argument. If you want competition then you go after those that can compete. If you don’t want competition, you seal club. It really is that simple.
This is supposedly a sandbox game, but you’re all literally arguing that its not. it’s a pure pvp game. Pretty sure the developers of this game said otherwise, but you still make the argument.
I addressed your advice already in that post, and have addressed similar suggestions here.
- D-scan does not help you in any way unless you are in a wormhole. By the time you see a ganker on d-scan it is already too late.
- Watching local does seem to work, however they are not new to this style of gameplay and know where to go and what to target.
- align does not matter one bit. That isnt even how warp works. Warp is based on base speed, not time. This is why orcas and other bigger ships can pulse a microwarpdrive to go into warp sideways and much faster than the stats say they should. There are videos about this on youtube.
- As a new player, my skills allow for my fastest barge to take 6.98 seconds to get into warp and that is with rigs that also reduce its defense. Procurers and retrievers take over 10 seconds. You keep making an argument that these ships are supposedly lightning fast to get off the field but they are not. Be realistic. There is a reason safety. goes after newer players and make forum posts saying not to train evasive maneuvering and such. They want slow, easy targets. Nothing more and Nothing less.
If EVE was not an open world PvP game wouldn’t CCP already made ganking in hisec impossible (for example by simply disallowing red safety in hisec)?
they do not have a mandate to protect attacked players and as such will not necessarily be able to prevent eventual losses if attackers can field sufficient firepower to destroy their targets before CONCORD can intervene. CONCORD should therefore be regarded as a force of retribution, not one of protection.
Every step they have taken in the past to reduce threats in highsec have ended in years of shitposting and whining on these forums and reddit. Has CSM ever not been nullsec leadership that pushes against any kind of safety for highsec players?
Has any post on these forums that have suggested or complained about ganking or ways to fix it without breaking the game not ended up with personal attacks and cyber bullying?
Face it, brisc is right and the eve community is toxic as hell. You want to justify seal clubbing even if you don’t do it yourself, which i suspect you probably do on alts. Sandbox my ass, this is your murder game and screw anyone that doesn’t play along.
That’s from a stationary start. Uriel’s advice is perfectly valid in terms of mining aligned. You will instantly warp as soon as you hit the button if you mine aligned.
I think mining aligned is a bit of a hassle personally and there are far better ways to avoid being ganked, but mining aligned is absolutely a valid approach if someone chooses that approach.
Your wild accusations just show your nature. What I wrote about sore losers completely describes the situation. Nothing else to add as you yourself admitted you won’t change your stance thus any argument is pointless.
This sore loser has never been ganked, so your hypothesis is based on nothing but armchair psychology. I’m out of patience today with the mental gymnastics you people come up with to validate seal clubbing.
This game is 19 years old, and yes it isn’t meant for everyone. It’s a niche game, and that means people attrition out. Their existence shouldn’t be a strong signal that “ganking causing people to leave is killing the game”. 19 years of survival with 15+ years of “Hukageddon” events and people whining and dropping out that whole time when they found out “Eve isn’t for me” should be the signal… in the opposite direction.
I understand it is your opinion, but I hope as you learn more, you continually revise it. And pull an Altara blossom moment.
That is not true… at all. Please try to use it in K-Space, for defensive and offensive purposes. You’ll soon find its utility. Or else the result is you’d be like the numerous herons that warped into me in Minmatar Liberation Day hacking sites. While I was decloaked and running the site. They met their demise. A D-Scan would have prevented that.
Genuine question: Have you never heard of higgs mining?
The odd thing is this is the second time he denies that pre-align works so either he is outright lying fully knowing that it actually does or he doesn’t even know how basic functions of the game work thus doesn’t know better but blame others for his own mistakes. No idea but either way denying facts and repeatedly so just shows how meaningless even his opinion is as even said opinion is based on false information.
You can throw a seal in the water, but you can’t make it swim.
This kid needs better friends to show him how it works as he just doesn’t seem to want to learn.
There is competition in ganking -it’s just asymmetrical in nature. Potential prey have their strat, tactics, and objectives, and gankers have theirs. Moreover, ganking does require skill and effort, even when the prey can’t kill you. And even more moreover, ganking has other benefits for a lot of people. It provides content for gankers, dedicated AG, opportunists, and even prey (i.e. I got my first solo kill against a ganker and saved my buddy’s ship in the process), provides for a variable world state which makes it harder for players to optimize towards boredom, makes accomplishments more meaningful by providing challenge, and creates demand and diminishes supply, which creates income and content for industrialists and traders.
If you want to play with a bushido code, that’s fine. However, Eve would be diminished by forcing everyone to do the same. It would drastically reduce the amount and type of content available in the game, make the game more boring for a lot of people, undermine the value of accomplishments, and even undermine your decision to conduct yourself with honor. I mean, does it really matter if you act honorably, if the game gives you no opportunity nor incentives to behave differently?
I’m going to call you out on your BS here.
Stop victimizing miners. They can fit mods that will arm their mining rigs with weapons and give them the defensive capability to handle gankers. But the activity choose not to.
And why don’t they want to? Because defensive and offensive modules take up valuable space that would otherwise hurt their isk/hr rackets.
I have killed armed to the teeth pvp fitted executioners, atrons, Incursus and others with a bloody Venture. A venture so don’t give me this nonsense that miners are helpless carebears. You are doing them no favors by keeping them victimized.
Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves here. I still think we might be able to turn her to the darkside.
Think of the children angle again. Shipwreck is right, don’t give up hope yet. I think she gets it but doesn’t want to admit it?
Edit; I always enjoy it when someone has that “ah ha” moment. After that, you now have a wolf in sheep’s clothing instead of just a sheep.
Ah, this was also the guy that had Ash Beldrulf in a chat window (local, corp, or alliance, I forget). I can only imagine hanging out with that guy meant every wrong lesson was learned.
I don’t consider people who come into my area, strip it of ore, and then sell it back to me for as much as they can charge as doing me a favor, whether or not they make ships out of it first. I think it is fair to want to obstruct or remove these people before they can destroy the natural wealth there.
I thought the BS was “only the combat that fits my specific criteria is True PVP™, and the combat that doesn’t fit is most certainly Not PVP™, and this distinction matters because now I can impose my morality upon the two”.
Then mine in a system that safety rarely ever visit. I know quite a few. I have never been ganked while mining. In fact quite the reverse…I have twice scored kill rights against failed ganks. So as a miner I’m actually winning…Miner 2 Gankers 0.
