When people say that ganking is imbalanced or overpowered, they don’t mean that new players are getting griefed, or that it’s too difficult to play the game. What they mean is that they got ganked, and they can’t admit it was their own fault, so they are going to spend the next few years arguing that ganking is overpowered so that they can feel better.
I can keep going, you must have real tough training program. True champions of the game, but wait I am sure you are encouraging people to stay in game.
Lol…actually your very first ‘example’ has been in the game 1561 days.
And who are you, to decide what those people’s responses are anyway ? You don’t know that any of them have left, or will leave, as a result of being ganked. Everything you say is based on your ‘feelings’…which somehow magically extend to psychically knowing what other players are going to do !
In my time in Eve, I have done mining, industry, station trading, region trading, contract scamming, missions, mission blitzing, hacking exploration, incursions, VG multiboxing, combat exploration, nullsec ratting, live events, gate camping, high sec war decks, ganking, small gang PvP, sov warfare, whaling, abbysals, and probably a few other things that I’ll remember later, and out of all that stuff, nothing… and I do mean nothing, was more low effort and low skill than mining… and you think that hunting humans should be nerfed until it pays as well as something that you can do afk or asleep… right.
Anyone who is unhappy with the game is unhappy with it for the same reasons that I am. Thus, if CCP wants to fix the game and bring everyone back, they need to cater to my particular priorities and values. And, if that means pivoting the game in an entirely new direction that they have no experience in, and that will alienate their core audience that actually love the game for what it is, then that’s okay. I’m sure we won’t see a repeat of New World, and everyone will love the boring, repetitive, and limited PvE content of a UPvP sandbox that was literally designed to have players be the content.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go draw a dick on the mona lisa.
I would think ganking is the lowest skill activity in-game? Surely you agree with this. To be a good miner takes months to get to. Not saying mining itself is a hard activity other than someone has to do it. But let’s split it ganking is a low skill, and mining is low activity, so would a ganker making 24M double an hour be a recommended target?
So when I lost my Gnosis to a Praxis in 0.3 system a month ago…surely that fits your definition of ‘griefing’ too. I mean…I was just minding my own business at a gate, when some ‘griefer’ attacked me with nothing to gain. Hell…let’s ban ‘griefing’ in lowsec too !
And the Triglavians in Litiura. They pointlessly destroyed a number of corp ships. That must have been ‘griefing’ too.
Oh…and if you really did your homework you’d see ( as I mentioned in the forum a week or so ago ) that more Venture are lost to NPCs than to gankers. Let’s ban griefing NPCs…I mean they are not even conscious so cannot comprehend ‘gain’ anyway.
The trouble is that JJ is speaking ‘on behalf’ of people whom he assumes share his particular viewpoint. He assumes that because he ‘feels’ a certain way about ganking…that he is somehow a spokesperson for everyone who was ever ganked.
But I’ve been ganked…and JJ sure as hell isn’t my spokesperson. I see ganking as an essential part of the game, even though I have myself been ganked. And there are thousands more like me. So…who, exactly, is JJ speaking on behalf of ? And what’s stopping them from coming here and speaking for themselves rather than relying on Psychic JJ to magically know their thoughts ?
Ever since Cilly retired, the antiganker community was searching for a new newbro spokesperson to parrot the same arguments that they’ve been making since 2003. JJ is just the latest in a long line of volunteers who are determined to change the game FOREVER.
That’s because you don’t understand it, and assume that it must be low skill because prey usually doesn’t fight back. However, catching and killing prey still requires skill and effort. I mean, would you say that bow hunting deer is a low skill activity because deer aren’t packing heat?
Yah LOW skill ganking is simply roaming an asteroid belt finding some retriever or venture to blow up. That makes like no ISK in general. (GENERALLY SPEAKING)
Many gankers look for profit. (some look to ruin your day) They hunt freighters, advanced battleships, keep track of people who tend to haul high value stuff (a risk as an incursion runner). It takes a lot of coordination to take down a target good gankers optimize their operations to save on ISK but regardless, if someone wants you dead your going to die in EVE.
There are many fine details that go into ganking and makeing a real profit off the uninformed. Sure, it sounds easy on paper, but it does take skill and coordination.
Altara, what is your point? Great you do things in the game, and you like to fly 1% of all ships available, and you love flying through space with Al on your tail and it is so exciting.
NPC will kill you, they are real pirates… there is actual counterplay to pirates. We have been over the emotional part of ganking.
NPC kill ventures only support my point that gankers are not needed for the task. And I have even made points that gankers could be fully replaced, with better results from NPC. But that was taking gameplay away, so we moved into the balance of ganking. But that is a perfect balance as well and no one sees anything wrong with it, but to be expected in a room full of people wishing they were doing PvP and can only do ganking so it was expected.
