Nerf Ganking Megathread

Calm down miner.

Ganking was nerfed in December, so if numbers are down, is it possible that ganking should be buffed? I’m sure more gankers would login, and numbers would go up.

Me, by myself, I account for nearly half of all ganking. Are you seriously blaming me, personally, for the decline in player count?

I don’t think PvP of any kind is responsible for the decline in player counts. I assert that carebear protections, which limit PvP, are the real cause of declining player counts. The playerbase wants more PvP, not less, and the developers need to stop coddling PvE carebears. EvE Online needs to become more like PubG BattleGrounds, and less like a Minecraft Creative Mode server.

Meh. No…the entire discussion has ( as almost everyone else has observed ) become a case of you slithering about all over the place, very often totally contradicting something you said just a few posts earlier.

You also conjure up some mysterious ‘we’ to represent just your own personal opinion. And you substitute actual hard data with ’ I feel that…’

And if the actual facts don’t fit how you ‘feel’…you just ignore them.

That sort of slithering is what comes from someone who wants to give the impression of being right even when they are wrong.

If all the bad is on the news, there is much better out there than bad.

This 100% agree with people love competition. And the competitive interaction in the game is great. I think interaction is key, but there is a lot of interaction that can be in this game. If we build new players to stay in the game, maybe one day they join us in fighting for space.

Bad interactions in a silo, I don’t think, is as supportive as we want to believe. Not all ganking experiences are bad; plenty of YouTube videos of people sending back the isk they blew up, and encourage young pilots to be better, and I think helpful and what the community needs.

JJ

Ah, the good old ‘new player loss’ myth. Trouble is…I can’t think of a single new player who joined around the same time as me, or since, who has left. That noob who used to mine in every ship other than a mining ship…is still there at my old home system, despite being ganked several times. Indeed, practically all the old familiar noob names are still there.

Numerous new corp members who have been ganked…are also still there.

Nobody has any evidence for all these noobs supposedly fleeing Eve due to ganking . Oh…and I am myself evidence that being ganked doesn’t make noobs leave.

I am only looking at it for risk/reward, what is the risk of the activity, and what is the reward for that activity. I think the victim, in this case, is losing much more in their risk/reward activity. And this is my point. Simple balance.

JJ

Well we know how many players we have gained…and we continue to be negative.

JJ

Jesse, since you are a troll, nobody will respond to you or engage your statements.

You have presented zero facts. I am okay being wrong. You call it slithering because you are dead set in your ways and it is okay. It is the type of character in-game I refer to. I am okay if someone changes the way I think in a conversation. I never claim to know everything, maybe you should try it sometime.

JJ

No people that want to be apart of a conversation will respond. But I won’t miss your input we can both agree to that, thank you for the heads up.

JJ

lol,

Why would that be so important to you?

JJ

You still just don’t get it, do you.

I use a 100K EHP Gnosis to collect weapons, ammo, etc, to and from Jita. I figure that should get me safely past most of the gankers on the way there. In fact earlier this year I was at one point transporting hundreds of millions of ISK of stuff that way.

If there was zero ganking in highsec, not only would the trip to Jita ( or indeed anywhere else in highsec ) be utterly boring…I’d have zero need for any shielding or weapons at all. Heck…I could collect stuff from Jita in a totally unfitted ship of any sort. I could travel all the way from Jita to Amarr…with zero risk !

My God…how boring ! 75 jumps with no danger whatever. That would make noobs leave ! And with no need for anyone in highsec to buy fittings…highsec economy would collapse. Gone would be the market for shield extenders, multispectrum shield enhancers, damage control, etc.

With zero highsec risk…gone would be any chance for noobs to learn about good shield fittings, and so on, before stepping off the cliff edge in lowsec.

Your Carebear Eve would be a complete disaster. The economy would collapse. Noobs would get totally bored. And highsec would be turned into a mind numbing Mineville where Orcas chew through belts in total safety as the tumbleweeds roll by.

You aren’t helping Eve…it’s people like you who are destroying it.

That’s right, no people respond to you.

Everybody just ignores you or calls you a troll.

lol,

Please waste your money on mercenaries and gankers alike. You don’t like someone that will be here? Try to scare someone else, and this is what happens typically when someone speaks up. And why I am the outlaw here, in your life, and there is nothing you can do about it lol.

JJ

I call it slithering because if I could actually be bothered doing so I could produce a LONG list of the countless times you have contradicted yourself here…saying one thing to one person and something completely different to someone else. You aren’t by any chance a politician in real life ?

Oh, I stopped doing that when he fabricated results, than based his whole argument on said results, then failed to provide the data that lead him to his fabricated results, then accidentally admitted he made it all up and doubled down that he doesn’t have to defend his fabricated results with real data.

He’s nothing more than a low tier troll, who loves red herrings.

I for sure like it, and don’t disagree with you. It is the emotional side of it. I like what I do in-game, I like helping pilots, if someone needs help, I like being there. The emotions in a game are what create that bond to play. Friendship, loyalty, and trust are all part of the game that really does affect people in real life.

JJ

Hah contradiction!

Checkmate, gankers!

You are simply not interested in actual facts…such as…

  1. I have a Venture that cost a mere 200K ISK to make ( I bet you didn’t know that was even possible ). It can mine double its worth in a single trip. It could get ganked every other trip and I’d still be at a profit ! The balance is firmly on my side…especially as I never have actually been ganked in it. This Venture mines at 90% of the rate of the standard 4m ISK noob Venture…the trouble is that a lot of noobs simply don’t know that they can fit out a Venture so cheaply.

  2. My Procurer ( which I no longer have ) was making me 12m ISK an hour or so…even just mining Veldspar. It basically paid for itself in just 4 hours or so. It really isn’t that hard to go 4 hours without being ganked…I used to mine for hundreds of hours in it, and never got ganked.

Where is this ‘imbalance’ you are speaking of ?
