The reporting isn’t about making them feel worse. If someone no matter how upset they are starts being racist, etc then they need to be told no matter how upset they are it’s not ok.
For instance I was reading a thread here where Bluelysian of all people had someone threaten to cut off her hands! One of the nicest people in the game and someone says something like that to them. That person needs to be reported because that is not ok.

It’s not about white knighting I would also report the person winding them up if they were racist or started making real life threats some things are just not ok.

Oh I agree and like I said a little making sport/smack talk is fine. But when someone starts to really lose it then it’s clearly time to step back.
In the example I mentioned in Hek actually a lot of the salt mining was being done by the Hek mining association guys piling on. The gankers mostly just kept saying calm down miner over and over.
And then he reported the miner!

Nope not reporting everyone. I’ve only reported bigotry in this game. In theory I would report someone making real life threats but I’ve only ever seen second hand reports of that by people on this forum.

What you are doing is ‘virtue signalling’.
Virtue signalling is a nonsense buzz word. When you tell your kids to brush their teeth you are signalling virtues that you believe in. Looking after your health, not having stinky breath, etc.
I doubt anyone goes through life without signalling some sort of virtue on a semi regular basis. Even by behaving in a certain way you are signalling a virtue by setting an example.
By calling me a trash person for reporting bigots you are signalling a virtue that you believe bigotry should be ok and not reportable.
