I smell just Envy. They shouldn’t have what older players hadn’t. For Gods Sake they should just WAIT and WAIT and WAIT for months until they can do what their corpmates do because well… well… you had to wait too! We are all playing the “waiting game” here and whoever started to wait first, has the goddamn right that no one who started waiting later will ever catch up. Because!
Sry, thats just stupid. The addition of SkillInjectors was a good idea in my book and is far from what I consider “PayToWin”.
I tend not to comment on what CCP said about x or y because I can never remember if I was told x or y in confidence (NDA and all that). I am allowed an opinion, just am cautious about saying what CCP plans. Kick up the dust but try to make sure the are no rocks hidden in it.
But that said, in my opinion Eve is supposed to be partially about consequences. Making a difference and all that. I think it would be hilarious is a true -10 standing pilot could not dock in hisec. Simple consequences.
Indeed, and that’s what Lucas misses. Eve is not a level playing field in the first place. It is absurd to talk about ‘winning’ and ‘advantage’ from the 9 or 10 days a Large Skill Injector may knock off the training queue…when there’s people with a 20 year head start on you and there’s huge mega-alliances that own half the galaxy. To present P2W as if anyone’s gonna suddenly rule the universe 2 weeks after joining Eve is just silly. At best, people are flying with T2 weapons a few days earlier than would otherwise be the case. It is simply not worth caring about. In the grand scheme of things, it is piffling.
It gives a good reason to war dec and to create consequences. You can remove citadels, not NPC stations. And you should look at hisec in more detail, there are a lot less structures in hisec space now.
NB. I find it amusing that so many ganker and ganker shrills who are also war deccers, do not want any consequences that get in the way of ganking. This would give one hell of a good reason to go to war for non-war deccers trying to apply consequences, we can also twist the arms of people not to give docking rights and yet the gankers, or hisec PvP’rs cry at the possibility. One would think they would be happy at people putting up war HQ’s to do this? So when these people state that they are all in for hisec PvP and consequences it is quite clear that they want nothing of the sort.
Yeah, I think CCP could definitely add more interest to the current approach, not only for security status, but also for standings. Consequences for choices are good, so there’s plenty of opportunity to add more nuance to the current system.
For example, why anyone with low sec status can dock in CONCORD stations is weird and it’d be logical for that to be extended to stations owned by the major Empire corporations (eg.the big 8 mega corps of Caldari, Fed Navy, etc.) so that docking rights for low sec status were removed in highsec.
I think Lore wise, there’d also be some Corps that wouldn’t remove docking rights, either because the Corp itself is known for criminal activity, or because they really don’t care for the Empires. Thukker Tribe as one example.
That should also be extended to standings. If you have poor standings with a Corp or faction, they should also lock you out.
However, I don’t think CCP should ever determine who players are allowed to include on their access lists for Upwell structures.
Unfortunately, if CCP did implement a change, I fear “simple” is a correct word. I don’t believe they are currently capable of developing well thought out mechanics.
There’s nothing “weird” about -10 security status characters being able to dock in Highsec. I have positive standings with the Imperial Family and the Caldari Navy.
Sure. I think being locked out because of standings would be just as, and in some cases more, relevant to a PVE player or lowsec PVPer (my standings are terrible across the board for shooting anything and everything in lowsec for years. I’d be locked out of many places if standings affected docking right, but that’s what alts are for).
I am sorry but I don’t like what was mentioned in your last as we can’t depend on Concord (unless you know something that we don’t… nda) The Capsuleer standings -10 are worthless and doesn’t mean that pilot will attack you the same as you attacking them for no reason other than why not shoot some capsuleer today which is called pvp in New Eden.
The docking access could play a large role in the coming Faction Wars patches and it could even up being simular to the Trig standings where pilots such as myself can not dock in their stations.
The Minmatar is at war vs Amarr and I am Minmatar so natually I am always at War vs Aiko who is Amarr.
So the cat is out of the bag and we all; know now which side of the bread is buttered with your last… Simple consequences.
Nah, my cat likes to crawl into bags (that she fits (big cat)). The consequences is me, not CCP, daydreaming. I am allowed to do that. Oh, and yeah I have always though that being allowed to dock in an enemy station was pure dumb on a level beggaring and standard logic.
Thank you for the quick reply and some agreeance here as I had thought hard about which Faction to first play long ago and I had thought it would be faction vs faction before player vs player meaning I was hoping it would be simular to ie Horde vs Alliance in a distance universe called Azeroth.
How wrong I was and at the time thought it was such a wasted opportunity but now fingers crossed we might actually see something like this in the Faction War content as to my understanding is the main focus for the next two year…
Again, I’d be down to support if -10 life was also fleshed out more.
Like for example you get more benefits being -10 and being in low sec.
But then I want low to be buffed. To be frank high should be nerfed in terms of making ISKies. Like you should be able to make a decent wage but the real money should be low/null.
No idea why Mike thinks the Empires even object to ganking, let alone have the ability to prevent capsuleers from getting inside a space station. As if Khanid wouldn’t send his beloved daughter north to infiltrate Caldari space and burn the Forge, with support from Amarr, Sansha, and Guristas sympathizers inside the Caldari Navy.
Sounds to me like Mike is just a carebear wanting to erase a gameplay mechanic that he opposes for irrational reasons (and has never tried for himself). Mike doesn’t want to actually log in and undock and engage in PvP, he just wants CCP to remove me. I honestly wonder why all these people think CCP created ganking mechanics in the first place? It’s almost like this is intended gameplay?
