It would also be nice for those of us who run missions to have a reason to have higher than 7.0 standing with a corp or faction. If we reach 10.0 standing, give us a corp skin, corp clothing, custom background, hell I’d settle for a medal in our bio or something.
Well above 7 modified with faction you do get special COSMOS missions that give faction bpcs or implants for a frigate (8.5) cruiser (9.2) battleship (9.9)
Having them over 7.0 (like Geo said) gives you access to the COSMOS missions . The nicer ones with good rewards I belive require above 8.0 , but they are one time only per character. Higher than 8.0 you get some frigate, cruiser and battleship BPCs which don’t mean much these days, they used to be something to aim for in the past. The whole COSMOS missions are untouched since release, some of them (specially those in null) are bugged. CCP is still not sure what to do about them . It’s legacy code …
Having standings over 7.0 with various factions had meaning in the past . I would create corporations, update them with my standings and sell such corporations to players so they can use them to install clones and anchor towers . You had reason and satisfaction to have high standings.
I’d go for some new level 5’s that were well rewarded but you open yourself to becoming a valid target in high/low sec for other players who take interdict missions from opposing npc corps - or maybe letters of marque and they get LP for each kill as well as stealing other players mission rewards, maybe a % lp of victims said mission reward
I think theres a lot of things they could do, I’d love to see some more modular/rng/procedural type dungeons, man I’d love to make missions for a living haha
For the most part, high-sec is actually more dangerous than null-sec…
Only if you’re greedy or an idiot.
Be nice…
Well, I’ve played this game in nearly all areas of space. If you learn the risks associated with each one, they’re all equally safe. Everywhere has its inherent dangers, the only reason nullsec is so safe is because of the effort of the players. In areas of nullsec where there are fewer players working together, it’s really quite dangerous. If your only experience with nullsec has been part of a bloc, then you’ve never truly experienced nullsec. It’s not as easy out there if you don’t have a coalition backing you.
I ninja everything in nullsec by jumping through wormholes from highsec. It’s really not safe out there at all for me.
And my losses? I was greedy or stupid on every one of them. I try to grab that last can, forget to turn off overheat and burn out important modules, not realize that ship I’m chasing is bait, that kind of stuff.
That’s why I prefaced it with “for the most part”. As a solo player, sure - definitely dangerous. As part of one of the larger coalitions - much safer.
make the mission have you clear a acceleration gate jump point that opens a Wormhole to find a bunch of pirates fighting sleepers and you can pick and choose which side to help and the other side will go neutral to you until one side is defeated, then they will backstab you
Alot of fun new and interesting things you could do!
Can someone explain why CCP would spend time and money on content that most players are just going to wait for a guide to min/max, then completely ignore the “story” in the rush for isk? It’s what happens with all new content, but Pochven, abyssal space, FW, and the new nullsec content is just that, new content. What OP is requesting is simply the same old content with a new coat of paint.
The only thing “new” here would be in which order you shoot the rats.
Easily, they get more money from it.
Right. New skippable text boxes are what’s going to draw in new players and entice old ones to return.
Considering how easy adding new skippable text boxes to the mission system would be, even taking the Giant Spaghetti Monster into account, I’m thinking the ROI on that is still negative.
Here’s an idea. Take this thread over to the Eve Fiction section and get a bunch of writers to submit missions. Organize them, and present them as a package of mission suggestions. You’ve done the expensive part of creating skippable text boxes for them, and it should be relatively easy for them to implement a package that’s already been created, opposed to creating everything from scratch. Bring that ROI up where it’s nearly guaranteed to be positive and they’d be terrible business people to ignore you.
And while I’m sure I’m wrong, I like to spew just like you. If CCP wants to get its money from lesser numbers but who are willing to CC into the game just to leave when they figure out that doesn’t buy you experience. So be it…
Whilst that may hold true for current missions theres no reason why it should remain so, I imagine for example it would be quite easy to design some random generated stuff making missions more like a mini story and i also imagine that with a little imagination other completely new missions AND gameplay could be added… just have to think outside the box.
it happens with that type of content sure, everyone wants to get paid… more or less… after 16 years ingame though for some of us its not just about the isk; its about something new… poch was bad for that; just more of the same rubbish (anoms but with different rats), most of the PvE experience is like that atm, but it neednt be.
For example having to fly a prototype ship for a mission (there are ways to prevent people abusing that but might make a fun way to introduce new ships or just add a little unknown to facwar areas)
Scouting the surface of a planet (not in the conventional eve way, maybe a chance to use that forward facing camera for a change…)
Bomb runs, again not in the conventional way (top down playstyle)
Having to man guns of a planetary or station defence array
This list could go on and to implement many items would require work of course but it doesnt mean it cant or shouldnt be done.
And of course dont get me wrong, if your new to eve theres plenty to see and do to keep one interested for years… just not so much after youve been playing for a long long time.
