Benefit is only a matter of perspective not fixed the same for everyone. Some saw the benefit of actively getting trades over with and moving on to other things. Others are lazy and see benefit in set it and forget it play style. Your heavily biased to set it and forget it just like I am to active manage and get it over with.

You are making up stupid definition of “benefit” in order to avoid realizing that what you were doing was stupid.
Benefit is total money gained, all other things equal. That means you can get the benefit of a cycle, aka the total money gained, if you are in the same state at the end and at the beginning of the cycle. Then you can look how many times it took you to make that cycle and deduce the benefit from the cycle, and its time cost. And you realize that you could have done the same benefit without the time cost, at the cost of delayed benefit.

That’s exactly why they did this… It’s a veiled attempt to stop players from laying on their orders and making it difficult for more casual players to sell… The bots and automated market changers are a false excuse for implementing the change… Players complained that they were up against bots and automated changers, but in fact, they were up against players who are spending their days constantly keeping their orders on top… I’ve been actively trading with 5 accounts for almost two years, and not once have I ever ran into a bot or something automated changing orders… CCP’s claim that frequent .01 changes is not human is also a false assumption that is simply not true… Everyone has been changing their orders by .01 for as long as I’ve been here…

Well, you can find market bots for purchase, and apparently CCP banned 60 bots a while back, so there are at least some bots present; but yeah, you may very well be right about the false excuse. People probably assumed that bots were worse than they actually were (for example, I’ve had players message me to say they were just checking to make sure I wasn’t a bot), and that’s what actually prompted CCP to take action -the perception of widespread botting, versus an actual prevalence of botting.
But, I can understand why CCP would do that. Botters and cheaters make people feel like they’re playing on an unlevel playing field, which drives them from the game.
What’s interesting is that players messaged me quite often as well but normally I just ignore messages from someone I don’t know unless I killed them (those are interesting as they either ask for advice how to be better or give angry tears why did I kill them). So likely my lack of response made people think I was a bot. I also saw people doing things like selling me 1 trit to see who my orders belonged to. However even though I 0.1 iskd a lot didn’t mean I just mindlessly did it. For example if someone got angry and severely dropped the price I would not chase them. I would pause until theirs sold and keep doing my thing or even put orders more expensive than theirs. If people kept undercutting to where the volume couldn’t eat the low ballers in a timely manner I would pause for a while sometimes several days or move operations to another trade hub temporarily.
