[New Player Issue / Small Fix] Guristas COSMOS Sends Guristas Pilots into Hostile Highsec

Likely Unintended Interaction: Guristas Enlistment Blocks Guristas COSMOS Content

I am a brand-new player trying to participate in Guristas content. I completed the Guristas epic arc, enlisted with the Guristas, and then looked for additional Guristas missions and ways to improve my standing.

That led me to the Guristas COSMOS agents Yka Katori and Siringwe Opainen in Friggi.

Because Friggi is Caldari high-security space, the Caldari Navy attacks Guristas-enlisted players while they are trying to reach and complete these Guristas missions.

This appears to be an unintended interaction between two systems created at different times:

  • The Guristas COSMOS agents were placed in Friggi before Pirate Faction Warfare existed.
  • Pirate FW later made enlisted Guristas pilots hostile to the Caldari Navy.
  • The older Guristas missions do not appear to have been updated to account for that change.

The result is that neutral characters can access Guristas content more easily than players who have actually committed to the Guristas. The available workarounds are to leave the Guristas militia or use an unaligned alt, neither of which feels like intended progression.

The most contained solution would likely be to:

Move Yka Katori, Siringwe Opainen, and their Friggi-dependent objectives to an existing Guristas location in neighboring low-sec Ihakana.

Their agent IDs, standing requirements, rewards, and one-time COSMOS completion status could remain unchanged.

This would preserve the intended danger of hostile empire high-sec without creating faction-navy immunity or changing Pirate FW mechanics.

Could Fenris consider this as a small content-maintenance fix?

Idk about pirates, but COSMOS are NOT tied to FW.

Also, FC does not offer any support for COSMOS

I understand that COSMOS is not tied to Faction Warfare. That is not what I am suggesting.

The issue is that Pirate FW added a newer mechanic under which Guristas-enlisted players are attacked by the Caldari Navy in Caldari high-sec. That newer mechanic now interferes with older Guristas COSMOS content located in Friggi.

A neutral player can access these Guristas agents normally, while a player who actually enlisted with the Guristas is repeatedly attacked by the Caldari Navy. That interaction is what appears unintended.

I also understand that Customer Support does not generally reset or manipulate COSMOS missions. I am not requesting GM assistance with a mission. I am suggesting a small developer-side content change to prevent the conflict going forward.

Wouldn’t your solution result in those COSMOS sites being easily camped in Lowsec and once the normal “Highsec Player” tries to run them he would be killed?

Multiple Cosmos Lowsec Guristas Agents already exist in the neighboring low-sec system of Ihakana that I am suggesting they be moved to. I had zero issues completing those.

Additionally, even if that was the case it would still be an improvement over them currently being completely undoable if you are enlisted in the agent’s faction.

Could you unlist from the Guristas FW, do the COSMOS missions and enlist again?

Of course I could, but I would have to leave my corporation to do so.
My corporation has an office at the Fulcrum, which requires the corporation to be fully enlisted as pirates.

Plus, is it really the design intent for Guristas enlisted players to be unable to do Guristas missions? For players who have committed to the Guristas faction to be locked out of Guristas agents?

Nah, I am trying to find a solution for you, because that they will move the agents is very unlikely. They don’t touch COSMOS stuff, especially as long as another solution exists. So yeah, you probably will need to make a decision: either unlisting or ignoring those agents.

But I can feel your frustration and hope they consider fixing it somehow. Best of luck!

pirate COSMOS predate pirate FW for 20 some years.. i don’t think 20 some years ago FC had the idea of adding insurgencies for pirates and allow people to do FW for them.

I agree, I just am saying this would be a truly easy fix.

It would only require relocating two existing agents and updating their mission destination system IDs to nearby low-sec Ihakana.

And it would make a countless number of guides, videos, wikis and whatnot suddenly outdated and incorrect. Leading to another countless support tickets “please GM help me, the mission location I am looking for isn’t there!!!111”.

Yeah sometimes when you update the game, it is inevitable that guides outdate. But COSMOS missions are a 1-time thing in the lifetime of a character. And it only affects the very very few players who enlisted to Guristas, AND own a CorpOffice at the Fulcrum AND want to do the COSMOS missions without leaving their corp. So probably not even a handful.

And touching old code can be quite dangerous, even very “simple” stuff. I remember they tried changing something with POSes a few years ago, and suddenly the whole market was down for a day or so. Not saying that would happen if you change the location IDs for those agents and missions, but nobody knows if they are even able to find those points in the code any more ^^

I’d say it impacts anyone enlisted with Guristas trying to do Guristas content.
To build upon what already exists, its good to look at low-hanging fruit where a small fix can make a positive change.

They do not offer support for COSMOS

i doubt it’s positive for anyone who now has to run those missions in low-sec, in addition to the ones already there…
