Doing both at the same time increases the intensity of both, if you add skydiving, flying internet spaceships, or even trying to navigate the new skill sheet you are in for a seriously life changing experience.
One I don’t recommend normally, but the past two years have been anything but normal so all bets are off.

CCP may I please not know that 17 of my cyno twinks on 7 active accounts have no skills i training quene. Thank u. At least can u please change orange color of “empty quene-no skill-pls buy multiple training alarm” to cute soft green-to-blue color that u’ve chosen for launcher interface (actually thats what i really like in this patch!)

Why not adding Skill Quiz (to make newbies learn about skills and what they are for) to Project Discovery while u have fight Fedos in Jita Market Warehouses in breathtaking Mario slyle arcade platformer minigame to prevent New Eden Global Market from crashing down cos of all Gilas are eaten!

Just joking dude, nwm. I like the humor of absurd (monthy python and stuff; check this video if u do too btw).

So what I might say in case of ur previous statements:

new default skill screen is:

  • first - an attempt to integrate EVEMon fuctions into game client (which is good, but still structurized and placed poorly in UI)
  • second - an attempt to resurrect born-dead certificates, but not as a remake of an old proven-useless feature.

A little more about this second thing:

Pre-histoiry: I’m am a member of mobile gaming community mostly specialising on AR-projects by Niantic like Ingress, Pokemon GO, HPWU e.tc. For now I only play Ingress when it comes to large scale operations or Global Anomalies cos i find the rest projects boring for three reasons:

  1. they are PVE oriented
  2. they are too keen on friendship and unicorns
  3. they are not competitive and challenging in case of player to player interaction

Main text

When EVE Echoes came out in beta it made a really big hype in our mobile gaming community. Our guys managed to bring a team of 20-30 players even into first weeks of closed beta of Echoes. None of them played EVE ever before so they asked me to be their consultant in mobile version of New Eden. So I registered in Echoes and started my attmpts to help my buddies.

Few weeks after I’ve realised that i cant actually play that game cos it didn’t seem logic to me.

Ship and module acess system in Echoes while I was a tester didn’t seem fair to me cos I knew that in real EVE i don’t need to train Gallente Cruiser skill to get “learning Tier X” to get acess to Ares (it was called something like Atron I or whatever).

But the MAIN THING about this Learning Tier System was that REAL SKILL SYSTEM WAS BEHIND IT, but u had to click around 4-5 random buttons to aclually get it on ur phone screen.

TWIST
So In Echoes U HAD TO DO MORE TO GET LESS, GO FOR FAKE PROGRESS INSTEAD DOING REAL PROGRESS IN LEARNIG PROPER SKILLS AND GET DDEP INTO UI AND SKILL UP UR OWN BRAIN TO GET ACCESS TO WHAT REALLY IMPORTANT!

What is see now from my POV is a lazy attempt to use useless materials of trash certificates mechanic that do exist ingame already to test the posssibility of implementing Echoes-like “Learning Tier” system OVER the oldschool skill classificators which are based on human-curiosity as all EVE is.

Why do i say that? Because the Certified Plans (read Learning Tier) window is ALREADY OVER skill catalogue in game-UI BY DEFAULT and it is what U SEE WHEN U PUSH “SKILLS” BUTTON. It is meanless to me or for most part of older players.

“Just click 1 time on skill catalogue and it will switch forever” - u may say. Just think about new players who’s gonna be confused for couple more month and may be neverr get to the step of doing 1 more click. It probably will make few more subscriptions by those who are CURIOUS, but what makes people stay in real EVE is the commutity - and this is not my own words it was announced on EVE Vegas by CCP on new player statistics report.

Last Thing

U can not bring sufficient amount of Eshoes pilots into EVE as well as u cannot bring EVE pilots to Echoes. U cannot turn one into another. Cos the comunities of this two games are absoltely saparate people with separate intrerests and background (this what i see in out local mobile gaming community).

All the EVE players in our AR-mobile-gaming-coommunity with no exeptions play Ingress from release or came to Ingress from other project communities and they all take it siriously, Those who decided to stay in Echoes after release are average people that usually drop playing old mobile project after a year max and sometimes even faster just after new one comes out.

This is all for today.

  1. Add EVEMon as additional utility - and bring more functionality to it
  2. Let certificates pass away
  3. Don’t inplement Echoes-like mechanics they are for other people
  4. Also keep supporting streamers and other eve related authors!

the new layout is even more confusing and it just looks bad.
instead of ONE window now you have to use 2 windows

The saving grace of the new Skill Ui is that I can add skills from the clipboard to the end of queue.

You could do that before

It’s not a User Interface, it’s a Loser Interface. It’s awful.

you could of linked us to the thread geo !! btw the new Ui blows ball sack!!! makes the skilling aspect of the game harder roll it back nerds!

The Font is too big in the "Skill Catalogue, so I can only see 8 skills in any category even after setting the UI to 90%. Old way was much better, after selecting “Spaceship Command” you could see lots of skills.
Maybe they should make each category become a new submenu so we can see more skills !
The whole UI is too big and doesnt scale like the whole of EVE UI does !

Why be rude?

To me it seems like “Graphics Artist” did an overhaul without talking to “UI Designer”, or taking a look at the old interface, documenting the functionality, designing a new one and testing that all the old functionality was present in the new interface in a way that improved usability.

The new interface sure is shiny, but boy, usability and information seems to have taken a hit.
