Newbie review in comparison to Guild Wars 2

yes of course he can, we all have opinions but he is comparing the both to each other…thats what i cant see the point of.

Another thing that needs to be adressed is how much player experience is influenced in both these games (EvE and GW2 ) by other players.
In EvE it is very easy for other players to influence your gameplay and force their game style on you weather you like it or not and there is nothing you can do about it. When someone wants to PvP and you don’t, sorry you are forced in PvP even if only reason you play EvE is PvE activities. Funny that it doesn’t work the other way around (should it?). Game advertises itself as “sandbox” where you can pretty much do whatever you want but it’s not true. It is only true under certain conditions. If you don’t follow them other players can and will force their gameplay on you limiting or altering your game experience.

In GW2 there is little to nothing other players can do to influence your gamepley other that spank talk on chat. You can go where you want, do what you want and the only limit or boundry that is set is set by yourself. There is no possibility fo other player to limit your experience by forcing their gamestyle on you cause GW2 system doesn’t allow that.

So how can these games be compared ?.. pointless.

Because he’s played both games and wants to compare his experience of playing the two.

He hasn’t played both games to a comparable level. He’s taken his expectations from GW2 and expected EVE to match them while not actually playing EVE to play EVE. Therefore it’s a meaningless piece which is only about giving himself epeen.

Coming from someone who is an experienced player (i’m assuming), this is a very senseless statement. Please explain how a beginner ‘plays eve to play eve…’, as opposed to simply ‘plays…’ ?

There’s experience, and then there’s first impressions. If his view is from a first impression, then it’s equally valid imo.

On the other hand, I think your comment shows that you are stuck in Eve gameplay and find it difficult to see outside the box.

It’s a big world out there.

Apples and Oranges

I play both games. I enjoy both games. They both offer something that the other part doesn’t. I want to play the games for the things they offer rather than trying to make one of the games into the other. Sounds like EVE isn’t the problem here. It’s you.

And there is your ego… you were doing so well.

To explain… playing EVE to play EVE means taking what makes EVE different and embracing it. Exploring it as something different.

Instead of expecting EVE to be a grindwheel loot train MMO then getting upset it isn’t.

Sure, he’s allowed his opinion, but it doesn’t make it a well informed or reasoned opinion, and all opinions are not of equal value.

My statement has nothing to do with ego.

I’m merely responding to your post which shows your presumption that he is not well informed and therefore cannot make a decent opinion.

It’s ‘his’ experience, and he is entitled to it, because he is using his own time for his own enjoyment.

He clearly is poorly informed as he makes several factually wrong claims. Even about GW2 if other posters here are to be believed.
It’s not a presumption at that point. It’s a fact.

Perhaps you shouldn’t speak at all if you have nothing nice to say.

Next up, Eve Online vs Super Mario Bros 3.

Super Mario 3 is clearly better.
