Noob question: what the point with the MWDs in PvE?

They can help keep you out of range for kiting/sniping . Also certain ships like some assault frigates do not suffer a signature penalty when using a mwd

There’s a way to fit a (blingy) Thrasher Fleet Issue with a microwarpdrive, and use it to run security missions from a level 4 agent. I can’t find the specific fit at the moment, but it should be easy to recreate, equipped with 200 mm autocannons, bling shield booster, faction battery and a deadspace microwarpdrive, all meant to run constantly. It’s a lot of fun to fly, but doesn’t work as well for level 3 security missions because the rats can track better.

What’s the difference in wearing concrete cinderblocks on your feet when you’re running a marathon race?

Concrete cinderblocks on your feet will slow you down during a marathon race, while MWDs will speed your ship up.

Cinderblocks won’t significantly increase my signature radius?

If they are large enough, they will :slight_smile:

Well while I was away for a bit CCP decided to destroy the MJD (Micro Jump Drive) for Marauders. The cooldown of 54 sec went up to 3 min and now getting between gates in security missions is like watching pain dry or grass grow. So now my Golem has a MWD (Micro Warp Drive) so it can atleast go over 700m/s so I don’t have to go an make coffee while I wait to get to the next “room”. With an extremely blingy afterburner I can only get up too about 360m/s. Since everything is destroyed in the “room” at point where I need the MWD I don’t need any other modules and there is nothing that can warp scram the MWD so I might as well fit it. It is really between to modes for Marauders in PvE, Bastion with everything turned on except the MWD until everything is destroyed and them MWD with everything else turned off.

Because a Battleship has zero business doing over 1,800m/s with velocity set to zero.

100,000m / 54s = 1,851.851m/s

You have to work to get most smaller ship going that fast.

You can always carry a healthy supply of Micro Jump Depots.

It’s a better option for:

  • ships that can’t use a MJD but should use it in a particular case;
  • encounters where aren’t many tacklers with webifiers;
  • encounters to keep distance from some heavy neuting ships;
  • for speedruning sites. AKA, you can destroy a boss or a tower and fly to the next gate etc. The MJD with it’s CD will take much longer;
  • situations when you can lure an overseer (in the last pocket) out from a huge pack of NPC guardians or combat towers.

It’s not too difficult to get a battleship to go near that speed. I have a marauder equipped with an MJD (of course, it can’t be used if it’s in siege mode). I have another battleship that moves at 1,160 with an MWD or 1, 657 if I need to cycle it overheated.

I have a battlecruiser able to go 1,910 or 2,687 overheated.

Speed isn’t that difficult in this game.

Yes, but you usually have to sacrifice something to get those speeds. Marauders just had to fit a MJD. Pair a MJD and MWD, and marauders used to go over 2,500m/s with absolutely zero sacrifice to any other fittings. That simply isn’t reasonable for a battleship.

Can you post me a fit that makes

  • 1800m/s
  • deals 2000 dps
  • tanks 4000 dps
  • shoots 100km
  • has 100.000 ehP buffer
  • is not a marauder

Please!

This I would like to see. :eyes:

That is not a marauder?

Not all of that, but…. I’ll try to get as much as I can….

(I’m at work so I can’t do the copy paste fit thing)

Vindicator:

High:

Neutron Blaster Cannon II x8

Medium:

Federation Stasis Webifier

Gist X-Type 500MN Microwarpdrive

Republic Fleet Large Cap Battery x2

Target Painter II

Low:

Federation Navy Magnetic Field Stabilizer x3

Imperial Navy Multispectrum Energized Membrane

Large Ancillary Armor Repairer

Reactive Armor Hardener

Tracking Enhancer II

Rigs:

Large Capacitor Control Circuit I x2

Large Capacitor Control Circuit II

Use Void L Ammo

It 1,657 m/s overheated (not quite 1,800 m/s)

I’m going by memory here, but I believe it can do 2,000 DPS if overheated.

I’m not sure how much it can tank, but it does have an armor repairer and is pretty sturdy in PvE

Does not shoot 100km. It’s a brawler fit.

Does not have 100,000 EHP. 66,000 if I recall.

It is certainly not a marauder.

That’s the best I can do.

So no. I can’t. But it is a battleship. If it can get close, it can shred.

And it’s not even remotely reaching the performance of a T2 fitted Marauder.

Case closed. Now you know why those ships shouldn’t have a 1 minute delay MJD.

I didn’t say anything about the marauder performance.

Besides, we all know Marauders have recently been nerfed pretty hard. They lost the defensive role bonuses all other battleships have.

For a good reason. Their role is active tanking and not passive buffer tanking and using their Bastion Mode to double offensive firepower, then disabling it to receive Remote Reps when coming under attack. People used massmultiboxed buffer Marauders simply too often and they outclassed even FactionBattleships by quite a margin. This has been adressed, successfully to a degree.

They are still too strong in my book, but at least in a better spot than before.
