The Odysseus is, among other things, a gas mining vessel.
Can it get a mining surveyor please?
I agree.
While I think it was an awful decision to hard-code certain hulls a âmining surveyorâ feature depending on whether they are considered mining ships by the game or not, I agree that the Odysseus should get access to that feature. The Odysseus as it is a gas huffing ship just as much as a Prospect is one, which does have the mining surveyor feature.
Personally I think the full âmining surveyorâ feature should never have been added like this.
It should have been fully part of a module like the mining chipset, or should have been a ship role, just like all other ship features in the game.
Invisible bonuses and features just because a ship is part of a faction is inconsistent with how the rest of EVEs ships are designed.
Again a thread that makes me miss the sandbox we once had. The one where you figured out through extensive testfitting if a hull was suitable for you and your task or a different would be better.
Today we have module fitting restrictions to role attributes or indirectly to power and cpu bonuses and much more awful those integrated mining surveyors. All functions should be bound to fittable modules at least. I donât get why this was changed.
I miss the days of old where mining Geddons and mining Bestowers were a common sight. Just because you could do it and they made sense to some extent.
It should simply be a scanner, available on all hulls.
On one side that allows people to scan their environment for valuable resources while moving around and/or exploring, even if not in a mining ship. And maybe bookmark a location and come back later and/or give it to their friends.
And on the other side once someone gets into a more specialized mining ship, the usage of that scanner is already clear and intuitive. I see little reason to restrict it to mining ships only.
