Don’t be so quick to attribute this to the Mannar as a whole… It’s fairly diluted from tradition, in my opinion…

Well the Mannar are known for their extremism and violence. I do wonder if some of the Matari people they have murdered in Hueromon has been part of some ritual.

I’m probably the last person to ask, but I feel there’s a significant contrast between ritual, religious, human sacrifice and the ‘sacrifice’ of an uninhabited clone… and subsequent consumption of.

Maybe some minority of the Mannar people, perhaps, but I don’t know that this sort of thing is widely practiced.

Functional immortality does not equal true immortality. As capsuleers we may cheat Death for certain amount of time, but Death always gets its due in the end.

Even if you disregard the metaphysical - if I count the number of people who are still around from the original squad I started with, there’s two of us (myself and LaFond). Some of the folks who have left space are still alive, of course - but many of them will not be , eventually, having opted to go back to baseline. And a lot of them are dead - suicides, clone failures, deaths on stations without soft clones, neurodegenerative diseases, and some shady ■■■■ strictly on the list of things we are not talking about.

Capsuleers die. They die all the time . Before the Sundsele attacks, it was true that I had, in a decade, lost more capsuleer friends than I had baseliner kin.

The “immortality” is an illusion, a recruiter marketing scam.

I don’t know that I’d want a big party.

Maybe a lunch with a few people who I enjoy talking with and then a dinner with a few people who I enjoy talking with? That honestly sounds nice. Large parties can be draining.
