This should be an option, so those that don’t want to share anything between their character to continue to do so, but people like me who don’t mind and in fact prefer to have a shared wallet and inventory space should be allowed to use them.
I’m kind of getting tired of the game when it comes to this. Instead of having all the LPs, ISK and items in one shared space, so its easy for use by all, I have to donate, create contracts or even create a corporation so I can move assets between different characters! On top of that the EverMarks, even if donated to a corporation can’t be used as the LSs at a store by simply checking the box “use corporation accounts” but I HAVE TO create an alliance, which means I have to train two extra skills to level 5 - Megacorp Management and Empire Control - in order to do send them to the character that needs them and I am not even sure if that could be done!
So this whole thing feels like what I need to to in real life in order to create a company - going to school taking classes, then establishing the company with payrolls, benefits, taxes and all the other corporate sh… that is required to hiring few thousand people AND ALL THAT just so I can have a shared closet and kitchen storage and bank and phone accounts with my family?!? If the PLEX can go into a shared wallet why can’t everything else that way I can use any currency I make on any character I want, and all my loot goes into the same shared inventory on a stations.
You guys are so behind the other MMO games I play, Guild wars 2 by far is the best of all in this regard, it has had everything shared since day one all the currencies, the bank space, the material storage, the dies for the clothing, the looks for armor and weapons, the hero points, mounts, etc. EVE on the other hand is still in the Stone ages!
I do know that in The Elder Scrolls Online there is a ‘Bank’ feature. Any of my characters can deposit currency or (unbound) items in the bank, and make withdrawals - with extra storage available at an increasing price. This is a shared resource available to all my characters.
ESO Subscribers (Omega, in EVE) also benefit from a shared Crafting Materials inventory which is huge.
I daresay some form of these features could be introduced. My initial thought is that it might be convenient. I think it should be limited to Omega accounts only. If an account drops from Omega to Alpha, the items remain available for withdrawal but do not benefit from further deposits made elsewhere.
They don’t go hand in hand with any standings really! There is no standing limit on the items we can buy in a LP store - lets say a base standing of 5.00 to buy a battleships blueprint or the actual ship - or how many LPs we can use in a single purchase - let’s say 5000 for a base standing of 1.00! None of these two restrictions exists and even if they did, the standing would limit what the character can buy not the amount of LPs they can use!
Plex do, as I mentioned, but EverMarks don’t. Each of my characters has his own EverMarks count, they are not shared.
I think there should be a “pseudo corp” for your alts, allowing you to share assets with your alts, and at the same time use corp for playing with actual other players.
With the same exact things that corp have, except assets in space : wallet, journal, hengers, jobs, contracts…
Whilst I agree with some of the OP sentiment…I think one should only be able to share things between characters where there is no skill required in using them.
That would include things like ISK, Evermarks, etc. But would not include ships, fittings, and inventory items of that nature.
The reason being that chars are not necessarily all skilled to the same level. To lump all my ships together would be to have T3 ships appear for chars that can’t yet fly T3, for example. Same applies to fittings, where I have lower SP chars than can fit stuff that much higher SP chars have not trained for. The result would be a mess, if every ship and fitting appear in every char’s inventory.
You do realize that you can create a contract to another of your characters OR ANY character that’s not even yours and send them ANY ITEM - there is no skill limit or anything of what you are suggesting that should be implemented. The only difference between the two is going to be that you are no longer going to need to create that contract and move the items between the inventories of your characters as there is going to be one shared inventory, all that extra work is gone on top of that you can do a single search for an item in your personal assets that belong to your entire account or accounts if you have more than one and they are all linked, the necessity to log in and out on different character to check for each one individually is going to be gone - everything is in one place! This would also reduce the storage on the server side as now all CCP has to worry is the space for the items for the entire account and not devote a space for each character,
RIght now only one of my accounts is Omega, so the one that is Alpha has items, ships and even fits that its chars can’t use, so they are all “lumped” with the rest, I don’t see how this is somehow going to brake the game for you PLUS I already mentioned in the very beginning that it should be optional - if you don’t want to have a shared account for your chars don’t use that option after you create your character and keep them separate from the rest then you don’t have to worry that their inventory is going to be lumped with items and ships they can’t use OR you can always create a filter for the ships/items on a char and have it on all the time - filters are char specific - that way only the ships/items that char can fly/use show up!
Also fittings are char specific I never said anything about fittings!
Don’t know where you got that from, it has nothing to do with my statement.
Just to be clear, LP’s are earned from completing missions for the NPC Corp which increases your standings with that Corp. By the time a character has enough LP’s to redeem the lowest LP priced item in the LP Store, that character will have acquired a significant amount of positive standing with that NPC Corp.
If LP’s could be transferred to another character, it makes sense that the character would also need to have positive standing with that NPC Corp in order to use their LP Store.
Because one of your chars might hop on board a ship and not actually be trained for its fittings at all, or not be trained to anything like the same level as the char the ship originally came from.
Normally when I swap a fitted ship between chars, which I have done frequently, I share the fitting with the new char and check first that I can get the same or very similar performance out of it. If skills are lacking then I skill up for those skills before doing the transfer. Did this with my Legion recently.
But if all my 18 chars can access all my ships…well, only 2 of them can fly the Legion. Some lower SP chars can actually fly ships and fittings that higher SP chars cant. Some can fly a T2 Leshak and some can only fly a T1 Leshak. Multiply that across 200 or so ships that all my chars own, and it is a recipe for a mess…because normally each char would only have in inventory ships that that specific char is skilled for.
The problem is that no amount of ship access will swap the skills necessary to fly them. That is specific to the char, and would make nonsense of having an easy access global pool of ships.
Lol…no…I’m getting straight to the point. The fact that Kortanil ‘didn’t say anything about fittings’ is precisely the weakness of the whole plan. To fly any ship you need to be not only skilled in that ship but also skilled in the fittings for that ship. No amount of sharing ships between accounts shares the requisite skills !
Except for the fact that by the time a character has enough LP’s to redeem the lowest LP priced item in the LP Store, that character would have acquired a significant amount of positive standing with that NPC Corp.
I didn’t say anything about the fittings because I don’t care about the fittings, and the “plan” doesn’t have to involve them. if someone wants to suggest adding them to the plan they are more than welcome to do so, I personally think they should stay separate. The location sharing would be more useful than the fittings, but that is just me!
