I’ve seen worse ideas. (lucas/jj/razor  )

At least this one had a fun spin!

And it would be true to the spirit of EvE, you can do anything and be anything, while keeping the element of ā€œnowhere is safe (unless you the player make it so)ā€.

Unfortunately, it would be farmed.

The player base is its own worst enemy.

Dunno, with 50% drop rates I fail to see how that would work in the end, even with some level of insurance payouts for the ā€œcopsā€ losing ships. But I’m not a financial wiz. Gankers making their own ā€œanti-gankingā€ response groups would still incur extra costs, and if you make the permits only incur a longer response time for the ā€œrealā€ concord to show up and finish the job, it wouldn’t work at all.

How do you see it ?

Humans are involved. There’s got be a way for humans to screw it up.

I left for lowsec about a year ago. Its so much safer to mine there you wouldn’t believe

If you want some excitement, go join the mining event in the Serthoulde constellation at the moment. Lots of mining and lots of mining ship explosions (and other ship explosions too).

It’s great fun right now.

Excuse you, don’t bring me into this part of the story. Aiko and I haven’t even met yet!

There are plenty of folks anti-ganking out there now.

@Wadiest_Yong

That means no.

It means too many for his lads or it means he doesnt give a pooh about what happens in high. Mike would have been your best bet

Brisc doesnt think anything that doesnt make the game prettier is an improvement.

Perhaps if Nulsec Alliances invite more Highsec Corps pilots to join Alliance with them, things could start ot become balanced.

Nulsec has their own hs corps to ā€œbalance thingsā€.

I think we have too many as it sort of would be good if there were just 4 alliances then each corp falls under one of those. Do you think that will happen with the Faction Wars I would like to be on one side at least.

Well, if it was going to be balanced at all, it should be balanced towards more risk (and associated with that, more reward).

Looking at it from a value perspective, the MER shows that the total value of PVP driven destruction in highsec is lower than anywhere else (about on par with Abyssal/Pochven value):

However, we can also look at it in terms of the number of ships destroyed in PVP and there also, highsec is on par with abyssal/pochven and wormholes:

Taking the most recent month:

System Class Total Losses Systems Loss/System Character Distribution* Loss/Character**
Highsec 36,048 1,192 30.2 0.75 0.24
Lowsec 86,089 688 126.2 0.08 5.43
Nullsec 164,214 3,321 49.4 0.13 6.32
Wormholes 36,333 2,604 14.0 0.04 4.54
Abyssal/Pochven 36,732 200 183.7
Total 360,136

Notes:

* Character Distribution assumes that the distribution aligns with previous figures from CCP
** Based on a ā€œmonthly active usersā€ of 200,000 (most recent figures from CCP in 2021 indicated MAU = 300,000, but there has also been a loss of a 1/3rd of average online characters since then)

Irrespective of whether those assumptions hold, highsec has the lowest total destruction from pvp, both in terms of value and number of kills.

If the assumptions do hold (ie. distribution and MAU estimate), then highsec is safer than any other space by more than an order of magnitude.

Except you realize they have a choice to join or not?

Also ransoming is a time honored tradition. Aiko’s crew keeps their word.

In my pirate career, I’ve never dishonored a ransom either. Sadly, CCP killed that profession a long time ago.

Sure I have. I made a guide.

Part of the payout is you get to ā€œfeel goodā€ about doing it.

I’m surprised with how strongly you feel, that you don’t AG

Ahh. When you just drop straight data and ROFLcopter Lucas and his Vegas strip homeboy into the ground.
