Just check my age and trust me I’ve’ seen all the the traps to auto-subscriptions there are in this game.
But… Just for fun, I just bought 3 months of Omega at rip off prices from the site… It was an offer for 3 months Omegas, not a lifetime subscription of EVE.
Only time it is mentioned that it’s actually a subscription you are signing up to is after you paid, that is once you get your receipt of your payment you already did.
I don’t recall any window actually asking for my consent to it actually being recurring.
Why?
If it’s a subscription in addition to the actual payment and it needs to have super clear information about it before actually paying and and option to opt-out, If I don’t read the receipt I’ll miss it.
Actually, before you pay, even before you enter your card information, this blurb is displayed in the “Order Summary” section to the right of the area where you put your payment info:
“Please note: You are signing up for a recurring Credit Card subscription and will be billed at the end of each time period until you cancel or change your method of payment.”
You may have missed seeing it, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. It would be pointed out very quickly if it was actually missing.
(Note: this is on the CCP webpage. No idea what you might have seen or not seen if you were using Steam or another site.)
Yes it is, I know that.
I ran the offer again.
But the ad until payment is 3 months omega, until you get to payment.
I actually ran it again and it actually clarifies it when you choose the payment method.
But they are not selling 3 months of Omega, they are selling 3 months of recurring omega with no info what the next 3 months of omega will cost.
Get my point of the whole trap is?
At no point until that specific payment do they clarify that you are subscibing.
I guess that’s a further benefit of buying PLEX (on sale*) and then buying Omega time (on sale*) in the NES. Beyond the discounting, there’s no recurring subscription with that method.
Sure, not my point though.
They should just stop selling “limited time game time” with a recurring payment, especially when they don’t clearly specify that it will be more expensive on the next payment cycle… Which it will.
In general I’d say stop advertising limited game time if it’s an actual subscription until further notice at all.
Pretty basic Sh*t if you ask me, yet some people find it completely OK.
