Why is it that those of us who actually subscribe automatically, never are able to take offers like the Skins and VNIs that are offered to those that do not subscribe on a regular basis or plex? Sadly there is no way for me to take advantage of the offers since I am on a revolving 3 month subscription. It’s almost like CCP would prefer I cancel that revenue stream and do it ad hoc so I can take advantage of these offers. It doesn’t make any sense.
Buy the offer for PLEX and the month will get tacked on to the end of your subscription. That’s what I did.
While tacking something on to the end is fine, if I paid my omega subscription I should automatically get the rewards. I understand they are trying to bring in new subscribers, but they should also try to keep the ones they have.
Just buy one (or more) months manually and you get the reward. The sub will be added to your account and the automatic sub will just wait until it gets low again. It’s not that bloody hard.
I disagree, but I take your point. That said, everybody has an equal opportunity to purchase this, so I don’t see this as “unfair” or how subscribers are never able to take advantage. Skip a month of subscription to make up for the extra month if you like. It’s not as if people are being treated differently- it’s a promo that is open to anybody who wants it.
“Rewards for subscribers” ends up being “rewards for everyone”, because they do have some 100,000 subscribers, as opposed to only maybe a few thousand people willing to return or try the game as a result of these rewards.
Look at the server graphs on eve-offline.net. 30,000 daily logins (equates to approx. 150,000 total accounts), compared to approx. 300 new players per day. They did have a peak of 8,000 new players in December, so let’s call that a really desirable offer they had for the holidays season.
Ultimately, whatever way you look at it, a reward that’s given to all existing customers would flood the economy in much higher quantities than a reward given just to entice a few hundred new subscribers, so the result is that:
- we’ll never get a “valuable” gift
- CCP has to be extremely careful with what they give; if they give ships or PLEX or injectors they’ll completely crash the game’s economy
So they just avoid giving anything (to the entire player base). It’s what it is.
No they don’t, that’s the point, THE MECHANISIM for people who subscribe long term doesn’t give the rewards you have to do something extra.
There should be no difference when it comes to rewards in HOW you subscribe.
Same feeling you get when your internet provider discounts new subscribers for a year while you pay the full rate. Deal with it
All you have to do is buy a month of subscription like everyone else has to. It’s neither more or less than what everyone has to do and is certainly not something extra.
So if I paid for 6 months, I have to pay for a seventh to get a reward anyone else can get by subbing one month a year?
The solution is not to sub for more than a month at a go and I am pretty sure this is not what CCP wanted to accomplish with their promotion.
I use yearly subs. I also buy plex when it’s discounted. Yearly sub is $10/month. Those special offers don’t come near the yearly sub value. But if marketing ploys work on you by all means buy the offers. But stay far away from Jita…
CCP, like most businesses, offer promotions to attract new business. If you buy something and it goes on sale the next day - you are not entitled to price protection. If it’s something you buy regularly you can still take advantage of the promotion.
CCP rewards annual subscribers by giving us a 30% discount off the regular monthly price.
I don’t think he is arguing about price protection but rather receiving a virtual item for doing something the same as the people receiving their virtual item.
I see the ops point in the fact it seems CCP rewards people for buying all their gametime at the right time and not for being subscribers.
I personally don’t think this is a good business move. But then again it wouldn’t be hard to hand out a bonus once in a while to subscribers that might change that.
CCP offered this as a subscription for PLEX through the NES rather than a subscription for cash. Last time with the Rattlesnake skins we had both options. However, they are simultaneously offering a 25% off promotion for PLEX - I doubt this is coincidence. Someone is twisting the dials - trying to figure out what works best!
The value of the skins will be inversely proportional to the number of people who take advantage of the offer. I actually like the way CCP is doing this - chance for a very valuable skin if few people take advantage of the offer and you can pay with PLEX earned in game.
You both get 1 month + the skin and you pay exactly the same. There is no difference at all.
I saw this offer yesterday.
I subscribe on 6-month terms.
I opened NES and paid 500 PLEX for another month.
I have an extra month and the skin.
I fail to see what is preventing anybody on this thread from doing exactly that, besides pressing one extra button- the same button that literally anybody, new or existing, would have to press to get this.
By subscribing long-term, you get a discount on those extra months vs. paying month-by-month, so that’s your bonus for subscribing in advance for an extended term. They do not owe anybody that benefit plus this promo- those are separate things.
I beleive this is a fair point,
Rather why they do stuff for new players, as why they “cant” give free stuff to subscribers
Slightly off topic but concurrent users is not even close to daily logins. You are significantly underestimating the player base by a factor of at least 2 if not more.
it’s a skin that’s ~150m in jita. I added a month via plex on my main accounts to get a few of them. Did it last time with the Rattlesnake skin too.
For a previous promotion my accts were in the middle of a 3 month sub, so I added more sub time on top and got the skins.
Looks like a pretty standard end of the month revenue bump.

Not exactly. If, and I will use directv as my example, call the provider as a long term subscriber they offer many rewards that are basically the same as they offer the new subscribers. I have HBO and Stars free for six months right now on one of their promos you just have to call. In the case of eve it doesn’t work that was. My thing is that my subscription just renewed while the promotion is going on so why not give me the rewards.
It’s not a game breaker either way but I still think rewarding customers both old and new is a much better policy.
