Hello everyone.
Since I had a chance to fly on the Tholos ship. I can share my opinion about the new ships and the mechanics of gradual damage.
(I lost/overpaid 30B ISK, thank you, you don’t have to write about it, I don’t regret this experience)
A big advantage of the Tholos and Cenotaph is the ability to fly invisibly.
I’ll say right away that the damage skills were maximum.
The ship had the maximum characteristics, HG set + very good modules, boosters, in fact, can be considered the ceiling of the characteristics.
I considered the ship exclusively for solo.
It’s worth starting with the myth of “300/1000 pure damage is OP”.
This is complete nonsense, you can see such numbers in one case, if you attack a capital ship.
A simple example: you caught a T3 Tengu, it has an active fit and a total HP of 9000.
You shoot with Cenotaph and take 90 damage per second, this is less than 10% of what we expect to see. I advise you to get used to this % of the nominal damage.
If you catch a ship with active protection and it is not assembled entirely from garbage, then you will suffer a lot
For example, Tholos cannot defeat an active Ishtar.
These ships have poor mobility. This is not a mistake, the peculiarity of using such a ship implies a rapid approach and attack at an extremely close range.
I will explain in more detail, the ships have a bonus of 25% from the grids.
Perhaps this means that we will be able to significantly reduce the impact of the grids and control the combat distance?
No, forget about this bonus, its effect is negligible, if you hit 2 or more Stasis Webifiers, then even if you have AB fit, you will lose mobility just like any other ship.
For understanding, Tholos 10AB + Nanofiber = 2473 m/s (taking into account overheating)
When exposed to 1 Stasis Webifier 1360, with 2 - 828, with 3 - 616
For comparison, the same parameters for Kikimora 3161 m/s without Stasis Webifier
When exposed to 1 Stasis Webifier 1264, with 2 - 605, with 3 - 389
As you can see from the initial unimpressive speed, 2 Stasis Webifiers and a scrambler turn such a ship into a helpless target.
What is the main drawback of the new ships?
Perhaps the answer is simple, they are designed for combat at extremely short distances, but it is extremely difficult to force such a fight and not allow the enemy to increase the distance.
Most of your targets are faster than you (it is funny to watch how Staber, having pressed auto-orbit, confidently keeps the distance from the 10AB Tholos, which cannot catch up with him)
and have some form of control, which our ships have problems with.
The shield bonus is good, but by itself it gives few advantages and strongly depends on the specific fit.
It turns out to be a vicious circle, you add control - you have a problem with protection, you use the ship’s bonus for protection - you are shot at from a distance and you can not respond - you back away to catch up with your opponents in speed, you have problems with protection and control. It is impossible to assemble a balanced ship with an acceptable cost.
As a result, I can summarize that these ships are not something outstanding against the general background.
In solo PVP these are mediocre ships.
If the prices are set within 100-150m for Tholos and 400-500m for Cenotaph then they can be used, otherwise it will be an overpayment for invisibility.
