When It’s not working is when local chat is at its peak and most effective for combat utilization.
Personally I don’t see why EVE has a Local channel where everyone in the system is listed.
Imagine Star Wars’ Imperials/Rebels being able to see all the troops in a system. No element of surprise and no way to operate in the shadows.
It isn’t very realistic and hurts immersive gameplay.
What is Local actually for? Is there a rationale behind it, a logical explanation for it?
Yip I think they should change core game mechanics to compensate.
Remove local but make sensor strength counter cloaking, if your sensor strength is for example 10 then let it decloak anything at 10kms from you if its 30 then let it decloak things 30km’s from you and so on.
Current Cloaking game mechanics is the reason having no local breaks risk reward.
I personally don’t really mind as I live in low/npc null where enemies are always in system but I can see it from the nullbear perspective where they make 60mil/h and it takes forever to make back the cost of their ship.
That isn’t a bad idea. It’s better than the magic of seeing everyone in system.
Same here, I operate and have my home station in Low. I prefer to get used to the wild west than live in 1860 New York and get mugged every week.
Its buried in lore about some communication array of some sort, which is why local doesnt work in J space unless you talk in local
If I recall correctly the stargate network also functions as the interstellar communication network (also serving to transmit wallet transaction data, market data and so on) and the infomorphs (consciousness transfer) too when a capsuleer dies, though not sure how it is explained most of those also work in wormhole space as well, maybe if someone links up to them they can use them like transfer ISK an so on although I guess as remote linking through quantum entanglement is a thing in the lore maybe that’s how.
Just a guess on that latter part tho’ and not 100% sure how accurate I recall the rest so worth reading about the details to make sure.
All the ships have a set amount of CPU power. I’m not sure how they figured how much each ship should have compared to another of the same class, maybe they threw darts at a board, but I suppose it has to do with balance.
Fitting these ships is like a mini-game to me and the fitting window is really good.
@Srima_Darkstar That’s the perfect PvP-fun. I will do exactly that. Thanks for the vid.
True. Half the fun is fitting all the modules and the other half is getting blown up
Glad you understood that video, I still have a crayon stuck in my left nostril, and my 2 braincells are fighting over 3rd place.
I’m so smart I only need one
It’s more about witty insults in local than the actual fight.
It could be, I don’t know. I don’t read local. I think the game would be better without it.
And what weaponry and armament do you, sir, use to rip ships to shreds?
The last ship I killed solo was with drones.
Not quite. The second half of the fun is chatting in Corporation window with considerate and kind players to exchange info, strategies and tips.
I learned yesterday that I will not have internet service open at my new place until sometime in June And I have no way of contacting my new friend in the game I hope he doesn’t think I quit. I really want to fleet with him, he was so nice to me.
One silver lining though: my skills continue to run and I will be pleased to see how many of them are done when I can finally log in again. I bought some implants and my training rate is 17.3
If you have an android phone, you can download evanova and send an evemail.
I don’t like the woman on the app.
I think it should change to a Portrait of Aiko
ie Eve Online App
I took a quick look at it this morning on Gplay and it appears that it does quite of few other things. I think I can even check my skill queue with it. I will download it later today and navigate all the options.
Thank you!
