That is in fact true. And I’ll even explain to you why. It’s because EVE is not a simple game with no stakes. The stakes are real and are measured in time and effort. People spend real time on the game and away from other things they could do in real life and they also invest real effort in achieving their in-game goals, whuch in many cases is just buying the ship they want, fitting it and having fun flying it. And when a ganker abusing game mechanics comes by and destroys that ship that took so much time to build and skill train into, believe me, the hurt is real.
And that is only made worse by what follows afterwards in messages and mockery. That is a dark part of EVE online and one if the core reasons this game is stuck where it is, despite it’s huge potential.

People who constantly talk about hiding posts are much more likely to engage in such behavior than people who don’t talk about it and don’t bring it up, because they’re self-projecting their own undesirable behaviors.

But seriously. This is not funny anymore. Oh my hecking god please just take a break if you type something that might be considered offensive. Stop and think! It’s easy to post something in the name of trolling, and itś easy to ruin someone’s afternoon. It’s harder to restrain yourself, but it should be worth the effort.
The guy pretending to have a heart condition is wrong if he is pretending, but Destiny is wrong either way. I think this is very serious. Joking around with potentially accidentally causing someone’s death through mental or underlying physical condition is very very very bad.
The Mittani’s in-game political career was largely destroyed by this, and rigthly too. I think he should have been handed a far harsher permaban, but as a political leader that would have alienated a lot of their subsciber base.
Please, Destiny, try to think about what you say. The harm you could be doing is very unfunny, and if you aren’t concerned about it (or worse, you feel offended while reading this), you actually need to remove this game from your life, as it is destroying you.
If anyone I knew IRL acted the way you do here even remotely closely, they would be out of my life very fast.
