Player criminals should give sec status gain

If criminals want to form a conga line and kill each other to gain some sec status they can be my guest. I dont even care if they are just flying corvettes. It will be worth their time maybe once or twice, but they will still have a long way to go from -10. Thats all.

They are criminals and being able to potentially cheat to improve sec status seems like a legit mechanic

In my initial suggestion, I imply that only characters with sec status above -4.99 (players who are not criminal) can gain sec status. So -5.0 and below cannot utilize this mechanic and need to use tags/other methods of gaining sec status.

From a lore perspective, it doesn’t make sense that criminals can gain sec status from killing other criminals, but that’s just my opinion.

lore is not the point ! the point is, it will be abused in so many ways !
so if things can easy abused then its just a stupid idea

So as of right now, its either tags or pve to raise sec status. Just leave it alone since pve is involved and its an activity ppl dont like apparently

If only omega accounts give sec status gain, and you get diminishing returns from killing the same player criminal over and over again (can be as harsh as 100% 1st kill, 0% 2nd kill), it would be more expensive, and a bigger hassle than buying sec status from tags.

alpha player couldnt even get criminal so its slightley impossible to kill an alpha criminal
and you wanna punish ppl who killing criminals in low sec again and again for not getting what you plan for everybody else ?

how do you regulate this ?
i kill you ( criminal ) today and gain a sec status win then i log of
3 weeks later i come back and kill you again and got punished because i wasnt logged in for 3 weeks ?

and it would still be easy abusable ! still a stupid idea

The alt issue rears its ugly head at every corner of every idea but the issue, it seems, will continue to stifle the potential that EVE has as long as money is more important than the game and the players.

Alt abuse is something that needs to be considered very carefully on any changes to mechanics.
Alts have been a Thing™ since day one.

Speaking of alts if it wasn’t alts it would be corpmates, friends and whatnot. I don’t think it would be much different, people would just achieve the same by cooperating but less conveniently that’s all, so the same considerations would apply even if alts were not a thing.

They cant necessarily use it anyway because there are only so much PVP happening. And even if they cheated they would eventually hit diminishing returns. So in my humble opinion it is unreasonable to limit the idea to a specific security status range.

But elephant in the room is how much sec status should be gained from downing a criminal?

you cant cheat in EvE Online !
what you mean is exploiting and this is prohibited by CCP !

this doesnt matter ! you want to shoot your alt then you find ways how to abuse it in your idea !

doesnt matter aswell … bring your alt on this needed sec status and tada… abuse is gonna happen again
if you want that only ppl on a specific sec status can abuse their alts its just stupid … you want to push your sec status then it need to push your sec status on every range !

its either to much so everyone is abusing it or to less and nobody cares about and it doesnt change anything

Alt abuse prevents every good idea to make EVE better.

not everything would be a good idea still if you need to think about of “alt abuse”

eve is a game which need all these alt chars otherwise we all could look for another game we want to play
so all of you who think alts are poisen are just not smart enough to see that without multiboxer are the reason of exist of eve

It could be as harsh as 1 kill gives you a sec status benefit, then never again from that player, or it could reset after 2 weeks, a month, 6 months. This is a minor detail that I’m not overly concerned with as the purpose of this forum section is purely to spitball ideas, not implement them. At least that’s my impression.

Good question. I think it would depend on the sec status of the criminal getting killed. The lowest sec status gives the highest gain, while higher negative sec statuses don’t give as much.

ahem … bots

if you wanna have THIS then nobody cares about your idea cause its simply not strong enough to impact anything xD

gets banned so no cheating at all !
and btw … bots are no cheats cause cheats are in games code so the Developer has allowed it to use and this

If you’re approaching this with the intention of only abusing this mechanic, then you’re correct. If you’re the average low sec PvP pilot, it would still be useful.

Very interesting opinion you have here. I’m sure the devs would love to learn more from you about this.
