EvE Online is indeed a very harsh place, you don’t need tell that to someone like myself to who enjoys destroying mining ships and sinking mission runners as much as the next person.
Do not let your thirst for PvP and winning mean that you attack others players views and protect companies over consumer interests. We all pay each month for this fantastic game.
Today I have seen many threads relating to the closure of the 24/7 access to the test server. CCP are well within their rights to close this, but I have seen so many players attack each other over discussion about whether it should have been kept open.
Play testing is something that companies used to pay significant money for individuals to do, so why would players be insisting that it’s a privilege to get access to the test server? You are literally removing your own access to tools and telling other players that they should get less for their money.
Nobody is going to protect your rights to in game assets, certain play styles and your rights as a consumer unless YOU stand up for them. CCP are not going to stand up for them for you. If you want to tell other players that they should get less for their money and be happy about it, then you’re not protecting your own interests.
We all want the game to continue to thrive, but players have to band together and make their views heard in a conducive and unified way.
If we continue to insist that it’s a privilege to do this and a privilege to do that, not have certain game play features and have to pay more over time for the same game but with no test server and less features then how are we expecting things to be great for the player?
You are paying for this game with YOUR hard earned money, act like it.
EVE has a test area…..its called the live server. If someone pops your ship while you are ‘testing’….well then your test failed. I mean, you do want a realistic test, don’t you ?
This is a confusing thread. CCP owns all the rights to the game. They can do whatever they like with it. If they want to delete test server, that’s their right. Players don’t own any rights for it. It is in CCP’s interest not to piss their playerbase off too much either, but I’m not seeing the absence of test server affecting the players that much.
TL;DR: I want to play for free on test server, where i can buy plex for 1 isk and do what I want without any support directed towards the game company hosting this video game.
In which country are these rights? If you are upset about something, feel free to with hold your business or voice your displeasure, but you are actually impeding on other’s rights by trying to limit speech, or CCP’s rights as a business to operate their own business. As a customer, if you are unhappy with the product, then don’t use it. Those who are in agreement with CCP on their decision are voicing their opinions as well.
The legal term here is EULA which stands for “End User License Agreement”. You don’t own the games you bought at the store on disk, back in the day. If you read those carefully, they state, if the owner of the game tells you to delete all the game files from your PC, you are required by law to do so. You are granted permission to use their game software, you never own it.
For example, here is my old Halo: Combat Evolved EULA snippet…
Unless specifically permitted by Bungie, you may not, sell, lend, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer any Service Provided Content. Service Provided Content may not be transferred or resold by you for commercial gain in any manner, including, without limitation, by means of any direct sale or auction service. Service Provided Content may be altered, removed, deleted, or discontinued by Bungie at any time (e.g., upon termination of this Agreement and/or cessation of online support for the Bungie Services), even if you have not “used” or “consumed” the Service Provided Content prior to alteration, removal, deletion, or discontinuation.
According to that first line, I am not even suppose to sell it second hand.
I demand to own this game that many people have spent a lot of time building, within a company that has spent millions of doll hairs on just hosting ( not including development and all other associated costs ). All of their ideas and hard work belong to me, since I pay $20 a month.
wait. I bet the OP is alpha, so not even the $20 (USD) monthly investment.
I think this is bordering on trolling now, as are many of your other posts. The other posts are fine, but yours? A quick zkillboard check confirms the ship types used-- I’m sure you think an Original Poster could use a redeemer, bombers and HIC’s along with obvious alts in similar ships and be an alpha.
I think at some point you’re going to have to accept that advocating for the consumer is important, nobody else is going to do it for you. You appear to be blindly defending the right to reduce the value of the product for all of us who play this.
Ever increasing subscription fees (an increase of 33% to twenty dollars), increasing number of microtransactions and reduction in tools and the picture looks bleak for the customer. Now to add to that, there’s no testing server?
You can demand many things, but in my thread if you’d be kind and refrain from trolling that’d be amazing.
I can see the sentiment in the op. I get it….something is being threatened and they will do anything to protect it…even if it doesnt belong to them and theres no hope in the end.
The bottom line is this…and this is with any game any developer no matter the subject.
They are a business to make money. Our word means nothing.
They dont have to or are required to tell you anything.
