POCO ownership?

To setup a POCO, do I have to be in a Corp?
And, if so, am I the owner of the POCO or is the corp?

Yes, you need to have the required roles in the corp to be able to anchor one (which rules out NPC corps). The Corp owns the POCO.

the POCO itself has no player who owns them, thanks CCP

the “brilliant” CCP design gives the POCO to the corp and anyone in the corp who has the roles will be able to manage the POCO in any way they want, thanks CCP

What you deploy is called Customs Office Gantry, you then supply it with additional resources and then it becomes a true Customs Office.

There can only be one (1) Customs Office at a planet, thus the existing one must be destroyed before your Corp may put up a new one. Or you can try negotiate a transfer of ownership.

@Jin_Endares

I’ve actually done this, numerous times, for various reasons. Though, beware there is a poco “cartel” in highsec, if that is where you wish to operate.

If you destroy an existing poco and for whatever reason fail to replace it with your own, and no one else places a poco in the empty space, eventually an Interbus poco will appear. Or at least that is the way it worked for years.

Still does. But those are easy to dispose of

Yeah, thats absolutely how it should be. It’s actually one of CCPs better decisions to have permanently anchored space-assets in corp-hands, so they can be wardecced for legit removal in HS.
If you are scared that other players in your corp might betray you, don’t give them the corp roles to mess around with the assets, simple as that. And in larger corps/alliances thats actually a source for drama and one of the few remaining sources for big trouble. The game should indeed have less tools for single players to dominate control over a large number of structures and should enforce to share power the larger one’s empire get.

You are talking about crazy stuff way beyond the point I was talking about, those petty things you are talking about are not of my concern

CCP stupid decision king

Can you replace this rabble with an actual argument?

You rabbled and I rabbled back, we are even now

No structures have real owners, the corp owns them and anyone with the proper role can do whatever. The way CCP should have done is having real owners and they would bear the full responsibility for their structures success or failure, also having agency is so much better. The system could have rental or leasing then we would have a dynamic market where owners could earn income by renting to corporations, incentivizing better placement and management.

But anyway, why even talk about it? There’s no point, CCP made it bad since the beginning and this will never change.

How would someone forcibly remove such a structure in HS?

You cannot declare war to a person, so the structure either can be freely attacked or it is owned by an entity that you can declare war on.

It’s that simple.

POCOs could be player owned if that meant someone gets at most a suspect timer for killing it. Is that what you prefer?

if you are in the same corp and have the role you can do it, the other method is letting the system go lawless and kill it

i think the structure should belong to the person but always be under some corporation, today’s system is not horrible, but also not flexible enough to be fun

So if the person owning the POCO is in a 1-man corp (or just with his own alts) and the HS system can’t go lawless because it is too far away from the FW zones, the POCO is de-facto invincible?

Yeah, that sounds like the better solution…[/irony]
