POS structures

You can arrange timers on the beach, it could be more even fun because people will know when to come as group and kick it or throw things from the distance.
As long as they apply damage the timer is paused and you can’t repair the castle unless you stop all aggressors from applying damage to it.

Getting back from warm beach to cold EVE it doesn’t work as you described because 15 minutes window is just for initiating attack and since it is started then agressors have all time in the world as long as they can apply 600 dps (medium structure) to keep timer paused which can they do with single ship.

And it is just for armor because hull gives 30 minutes not 15.

But of course no one will bash athanor or raitaru for hours. Shields done in 17 mins when no one is around and then 2 x 17 mins of armor and hull timer and that’s it…

Or perhaps not build a sandcastle on your own. OR be ok with it being at risk and a worthwhile target.

No one needs their own space station, it should by default be a group asset and, in a PvP centric MMO like eve, should be at considerable risk.

Sure. Actually no one needs anything because it is just a game.
But just give OP the hint how large of this “group” should be to successfully defend in highsec if you like.
Anyhow we are off-topic here so I’ll shut up.

You can defend a structure with a much smaller force. This entire setup overwhelmingly favors the defending party, requiring a significant numerical advantage on the attackers’ side. Even the cheapest industrial structures have the power of like 1-2 Bhaalgorns and 1-2 Falcons depending on setup. The attackers need 3-4 spider-tanked ships to have a chance at one of those structures if they only have a gunner with no additional support.

A structure if profitable to kill if it’s undefended and you’re doing it alone. When you start needing a group of people, selling cores becomes barely more profitable than running level 4 missions.

True, but only for 5 minutes of capacitor. Otherwise 1 Bhaalgorn OR 1 Falcon for maybe 15 minutes. After that time the medium industrial structure can only throw pillows (called standup missiles) through its windows and apply terrifying damage of T1 cruiser to enemy fleet.

That’s why I recommend first to look what fleets kill structures (or observe bashes) and ask themselves the question “how big and expensive my fleet will be to counter this”.

Just open few latest structure killmails and always assume there is enough logi which not always whore on KM and do rough estimation of defending fleet price and numbers required:

Athanor | Ship | zKillboard
Raitaru | Ship | zKillboard

But it is not a point. Question was about a POS.
EDIT: I just noticed that there are almost no green entries on these killboards…

Right, but we’re talking about structures that cost about as much as a single cheaply-fit faction battleship. Most people run missions with setups that are worth more than one of these structures, core included, and it costs less and takes less effort to gank one of those than to siege a structure multiple times over the course of a week.

Also the capacitor lasts quite a while if you use a battery and train up those skills.

Thank you for that, this was the exact info I was looking for…
thanks for the education,

If only there were HS athanors in place already that were open to the public that you could, ya know, just use…

But why spend 200 isk on taxes using another persons athanor, when you could be spending 2 billion on your own athanor that gets wardecced and destroyed anyways?

did you check jita or amarr? normaly depending on the control tower you might be able to get one. i do know in the system that i currently live in there are several control towers in it and there im sure not all active but im sure some still reside there.

hey @PJ_Jones

here is the problem:

EVE is a social game … play it with others … thats the way it should be

no need to thank me for fixing your problem
your are welcome

Imagine if there were Raitaru’s and Anthanor’s in every system you went into, and all of them had all of the modules on and activated, with all the rigs you needed
ya know, just to use…

you need to get back to the drawing table and figure things out some more.

@PJ_Jones

join a corp with a alliance in the background and have all the stuff you need … MMORPG … means many people play TOGETHER … not alone
