I think Planetside 2 is. Which one are you thinking of ?
Eve is the only space game I’ve played.

The one I really like beside EVE is:
Elite Dangerous. You can land on planets and explore in a rover and soon with the new DLC, you’ll be able to get out of your ship, walk around and engage other pilots or explore with them as a team. The game has a feature where you can choose to play with/against other players or do everything solo or a bit of both.
I highly recommend that one.
Another one I do play is X4: Foundations. That’s a single player. It’s well made and you can also get out of your ship.
There’s another one that’s kind of older but an old favorite of mine and still nice to play It’s Star Wolves. It’s also a single player.

Empyrion was pretty good, but it was laggy so I’m waiting a few years for the tech to get good enough for it.
I did some research on Empyrion and after careful consideration I decided it’s not for me.
Aside from “Elite Bored to Death” and “Scam Citizen”, “Star Conflict” and “Evochron: Mercenary” are two multiplayer EVE-like games I can think of that are on Steam. But nothing out there even comes close to capturing EVE’s scope and feel aside from a few single-player games already mentioned.

The picture is boring, cause its the strategic view (during combat you can’t be distracted to change camera views). I think EVE needs a separate window for viewing battles, which can be opened/closed and resized, so that players can move it to second monitor and see some action, not just the UI.

The elder scrolls skyrim is a great space game
Apart from the skill trees as constellations and the giants smashing you into space, I can’t remember a lot of space themed parts in that game.
It’s a good game though! 
The moon is a Gods corpse and divine realms are planets. Also you can mod it into star wars
I can recommend Warframe. It’s also space themed, but completely different from EVE.
