How often will this be updated?

Maybe the guy who runs zkill can help?

I’ll be flying to Jita and dumping mine out for a random tractor unit to pick up.

Is this it for Quadrant 3?

I intend to do it daily.

■■■■’s fun!

10/10

Or should I say, 2/2!

This leaderboard is for the first event only right now which runs until July 28. By the time the next event starts we should have the leaderboards available in-game.

I will however be keeping the leaderboard for the quadrant-long competition updated in a forum post.

have you ever heard of such a thing? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system
Leaderboard where only wins are counted? this is not a leaderboard …

I correctly understand that the best strategy for winning this competition is play as many fights as possible? Do not sleep, do not eat just 24/7 pushing the button “to battle”.

yes, grind It.

@Hello_Violetta Yes we’re familiar with Elo but that’s not what this competition is tracking. We’re tracking the number of overall victories for a competitor, not measuring their relative skill level compared to other players. All we’re interested in here is the raw numbers of wins.

@RUS_Psih0 The best strategy for winning this competition is to win. Not eating, not sleeping and pushing the button 24/7 won’t help if you’re not capable of translating those pushes into victories.

A very sad day for EvE. Never saw less PvPer in lowsec than yesterday, and Tama was probably on all time low population. I’m usually not concerned about EvE dying. But with this the transformation into a generic lobby shooter makes a big leap.

John have 90% wins and play 100 batles. he have 90 wins.
Mark have 10% wins but play 1000 batles and have 100 wins.

in you counting system Mark play better that John. (He pressed button “to battle” more times ) =)

As correctly noted above Elo would be a good alternative and would avoid this situation.
But Elo will be very hard correctly implement in this case

the leaderboard of the old arena uses the elo system: https://abysra.com/

You cannot just implement ELO without consequences for the meta. If you actually do that, methinks top will be full of people who properly bling their ships - much like old abyssal cruiser 1v1. Getting into the top 10 would have a requirement to invest a lot of ISK into your ship.

With current approach it is grindy but it gives little to no incentive to make your ships overly expensive (except for your own fun), since a 5b cruiser grinds victories about as fast as a 100m cruiser. So people in cheaper ships get very few frustrating matches where they have no chance of winning, and have a chance to be in the top.

Hard to say which one I like more. ELO system would be fair, but then I hate those implications, so in the end I’m probably against it.

the popularity of ikitursa in the abyses is more of a balance issue than a counting system. In any case, a person has options for more successful strategies.

But in the case of new abises, this is not worth it. Because all these types are short-term and last for a few days.
Frequent change of battle types solves the problem of better build. Because it takes time to debug

I have not mentioned ikitursa because it is irrelevant to my argument. It became competition of bling and fielding proper ship types while specific players are flying specific ship types way before the iki release.

Rotating metas and time to solve them also has little effect on decision to take something expensive. The decision is taken based on risk of losing it (estimation of which requires at least rough understanding of current meta) and benefits you get (how your chance to win a match and/or get to the top increases).

You introduce elo system - people who want to get to the top now have to optimize for chance to win vs high-elo opponents (instead of grinding fast wins) - they can hardly change their piloting skill, so they bling their ships. This seems like a predictable outcome to me.

None of the things you mention change that. Even with current system some people are doing multi-billion setups already.
