PULSE Drive AB + Skill<>?

Hi All.

I was trying to het some faster cycles on a normal AB, bc in some situations, you-re trying to out/gas your enemies, and your ship if AB is active, won-t initiate warp untill it-s cycle is done…

But it-s not always true, sometime warp initiate faster then your AB cycle end…

And here it came my idea…

A PULSE AB… that works like the Triglavian ammo…

Each cycle gets faster and faster… both in cycle, and total speed…

////

It comes to mind the ION THRUSTER, that starts extremely slow, but it exponentially increase its thrust indefinitely…

What-s your thoughts???

Depending on the size of it, and power requirements, many small ships could be locked out…

Thus benefitting only big, slow ships, which even with the stronger MWD avail.

(Caldari Rock / I-m thinking at you…) barely get past 1000m>s…

But a small, charge dependant ION/AB hybrid *Strontium, Hydrogen charges, idk, would be cool

for medium sized and small sized ship also to beat the regular speed records, and might help with fitting small ships to get better chances against gate campers…

What if the Overheat was to pulse boost speed without burn outs with this skill?

So you basically want a nanite paste AB, or a Ancillary boost AB that acts like a psuedo-MWD for only a few cycles… say below 8-10 cycles, then have a long reload rate?

Well, it should be tried out first for effectiveness.

If it brings FUN as a consequence, it should be good.

If it requires TOO many, or costly factors, that would inevitably take the FUN part out of the equation… then should try to do some negative overhead abstract first, then optimize it.

Warp gates are obsolete, what about ION thrust belts then?

I would assume some balance is needed between cycle length and number of cycles to make it effective in only certain situations, then balance that against reload length so not permanent solution. Could also have AB qualities instead of MWD as not being turned off by scrams, fittings balances so not everyone/every ship would use them, etc. Then what would fuel it? Nanite paste or boosters or even something else new.

Also the overall question why do we need it presents itself? Is it just unique, niche, or for dual prop fits or applies to certain new environments or Eve areas?

As I said, Warp Gates are Obsolete.

High speed ION belts could let certain kind of ships with the ION DRIVE, to enter and exit amongst NEW ROUTES, cutting travel time dramatically between say JITA-AMARR-DODIXIE-ORE, etc.

But yeah, it’s a whole packet.

Also some BS are so slow, even with MWD… some barely get past 1K M/S speed…

An ION Thruster MWD, with some kind of fuel as you imagined, could turn out useful

to get those BRICKS gets considerable speed, like a sort of NOS module, that would double your MWD stats (like the passive shield rep maximizer) alongside a ION module, used for interstellar trip,

reaching AU ship characteristics. We already have a low slot AU booster, but it’s passive.

And it’s an old tech.

It’s a )new) branch to explore, that would give raise to multiple scenarios and shenigans.

One don’t exlude the other.

Aah okay so basically like a jump drive. But it wont work and Ill tell you why. Even if you travel for days in a system at the fastest speeds to get to another system the game doesnt update to the new system unless a server change happens which is why they have the travel systems they do atm with warp gates. They allow for that system change to jump from one area to another. So spooling up an ion drive, though cool, would still be notoriously slow travel that cant be coded to “go” anywhere.

At least thats how its been explained to me in the past.

Now having ways to travel within systems to other areas still within the system but outside of the warpable objects in the ‘inner core’ of the system is something Ive advocated for for years now. Having “stuff” to explore would be terribly cool, especially if such travel lowered sec the farther out you got and had danger and lucrative and exciting stuff to explore. That would be worthy of an “ion-like” drive then imo.

nice insight, idk that.
