I find it pretty amusing to see that pvp fest made highsec more safe as all gankers were busy killing their alts instead of me

Clarified as in the post made after the event was over? Because it wasn’t very clear before that.
It was also hilarious that the event that was supposed to celebate PVP made a complete mockery of it.

What if according to CCP this is what real PvP is!? 
PvP is about having friends, best ship is friendship. And for the PvP fest you need for sure maaaaany many friends.

I like to see how a NPC stole 1 position of the ranking, stealing a potential prize. Truly a masterful event.
Oh wow, you’re right! I assumed that was just a player with a Drifter-sounding name, but it’s actually one of the Drifter NPCs.
Amazing.
people being “disqualified” aka the part where ships need to actually be piloted bumped up all of my toons even higher. In the end, I ended up getting 44.000 plex total from the event. Even if I benefitted I think it was terribly designed, though. We be eating good!~

Damage done is usually a clear indicator that it was a pvp fight. Fighting alts is fine if your fighting; mindlessly killing unfitted ships that do nothing.. not so much?
Fitted. Fitted is valid. A FITTED ship, one that sports you know, stuff in the fitting slots.
In essence there are ways to ensure more fairness/relevance in said competition; hell id even go as far as having folks set an hour or two active time just so those that cant play during work hours have a sporting chance to actually be part of the competition…

it does not work with people in autopilot, sleepy at gates, drifing out of station, feeling safe at the tether, awaiting to enter a WH, smartbombed, etc etc. True PvPers understand these situations.
We can nitpick all day long and find excuses for such a horrible event design because some niche shenanigan situations might maybe lead to such an unfitted frig killmail. It doesn’t change the fact that this thing isn’t even remotely worth being called a “PVP Fest”.
And yes, “True PvPers” would understand that.

I see how that can become difficult for them as well. So, CCP sets out in the rules: ‘‘you can create 500 alts and kill them, but the ships killed have to be fitted’’. And what does a participant using their own alts do in such a situation? Fit their alts’ ships with the cheapest mods available on the market. Not stuff that would make sense, like T1 armor or shield mods. But probably things like Nanofiber Internal Structure I in all lows.
The ship will be fitted. The cost will be negligible. It will have 0 effect on the ‘‘fight’’, in fact it will help kill the hull faster, since it reduces structural HP. So, would that ‘‘fitting’’ count in your opinion?
Killing your own alts is not ‘PVP’ in any sense of the term, no matter if the ship is fitted or not. CCP just made it simpler for everyone by not requiring fitted ships. That’s all.

A true PVPer knows that this is not a nitpick, these events happen all the time. And they are just some examples. You also have the occasional vargur alphaing ships. Do we punish a PvPer because he fitted for High alpha and insta dunked a target? you see? 0 damaged involved from the other party.
The alternatives proposed here shows very little knowledge of the PvP situations in the different spaces.
Many of you are talking about destroying your own alts BUT you dont even have to destroy your alts. If you have a friend with 10 accounts, with 3 toons in each account, thats just 1 player providing you with 30 fully independent kills.
You have to try harder to provide a real alternative to CCPs PvP Fest.
None of that is PvP. It is “destroying toons”.
As I said: We can debate all day long how people might trick rules to cheaply grab some points without ever entering something remotely worth being called a “fight”.
The point that CCP accepted, encouraged and promoted those alt-abuse scenarios simply shows that this “Event” is everything but a “PvP Fest”. Barely anything about it was about PvP. It was all about creative multi-character usage. A real horrible advertisement for the game.
