PVP Fest is coming!

You can always put it (or some of it) next to this bunch:

Just imagine how much more salt it would generate if it had five to seven times the amount of PLEX for all to see but can not take.

That has nothing to do with being upset not being ‘so smart’ or being envious about some pixel items.

Some of the players have something like ‘values’ and how that whole thing played out is simply a disgrace.
That is a question of mindset, but maybe also one of generations.
I found out on day one ‘how to trick the system’ and still didn’t care, simply because I don’t participate in nonsense ‘contests’ built around meaningless repetition without any value.

Such an event should be motivation and advertisement, increasing the reputation of the game. But in the end it probably has alienated and frustrated more people than it has entertained. A typical CCP stunt that makes so many players just question the character and intellect of the current designers.

It is according to the event rules and perfectly normal. Are you salty for not getting a single Plex?

No salt here, I didn’t take part.

As for it being a fair tournament, it wasn’t and cheating sods like you have no place in the game, regardless of what CCP said.

The tournament was fair because the victors followed the rules. No one was making something illegal, probably not even consuming PEDs to have the stamina to kill some extra alts.

This decision about changing interpretation of the rules demonstrate incompetence of the organizer.
Provided in announcement examples contradict the way points were calculated.
However, nothing can make this event worse.

The only man who did his job great - @Squizz_Caphinator thanks for leaderboard which you provided during the event.

Hi QuickSwipe Collier from Pochven here,

Myself and a few of my friends are a bit disappointed in this, we worked significantly hard to participate in this event according to the available information at the time our kills counted. Significantly skewing the February Otela kill metrics. The leaderboard was run utilizing 3rd party metrics and even ingame information doesn’t differentiate. Make no mistake we were fully prepared for a rugpull but the counterpoint is “I was blasting a dude and he ejected to save his pod/whatever”. Essentially there was no way to know that kill didn’t count by all available means, and based on the recording metric we won by 1 Point. We wanted to take as many of the top 20 PvP slots for our category as possible and even then it was competitive against other players.

Specifically, according to the available leaderboard we were highly competitive and were actively competing for #1 in our category down to the wire.

In a competition with vague paramaters, contradictory language and invisible measuring means, and explictly endorsed atypical strategies being rugpulled by an invisible metric is very disappointing. We have a vested interest in the original leaderboard being upheld and would like a response.

Thank You

I get it.

I just set my skill queue to the end of my sub next year, then I’m done with spending cash for this garbage.

I’m done with this team of devs.

Cya.

The entire event was a lemon and I’m disappointed in CCP for a lot of reasons.

However.

I couldn’t be happier knowing that you and the other honorless Kybers got rugpulled. Maybe Zelus was based after all.

Can I have your bluepring originals that require Omega to use then?

Good thing I now have the plex to sub more alts to replace you. Can I have your stuff though?

I don’t see why it’s any less acceptable than rolling a bunch of alpha alts for the event.

Don’t get me wrong, I think this was an awfully thought out event, but getting angry that one guy thought a step further than the others is just silly.

Great job, CCP. Instead of a Valentine’s event for everyone, you’ve made a cozy little playground for the chosen few. Keep it up, I’m sure this is exactly what the player count needs. Way to go!

I don’t think he is angry, but disappointed. And a bit ashamed for the game he loves… And thats something I can fully understand.

EVE is among the best games ever made - concept wise. It should have hundredtousands of players (unique humans, paying customers) logged in at each given moment.
But it is also a prime example of a company wasting almost every opportunity it has to build up a reputation of greatness, because somehow there is a total lack of quality control and an obvious unwillingness to learn from mistakes.

I think CCP should make a council of experienced players, let’s call it an Interstellar Council (ISC), and then developers could meet and speak with actual players and get meaningful feedback, in order to avoid debacles like this contest.

I don’t see how this contradicts anything. Just because the examples say “owned”, it does not exclude the possibility of these owned ships also being piloted. Pretending that it stating “owned” means they don’t have to be piloted is just wrong. I do agree it is unclear wording, but given it is clarified in a different segment it seems fine to me.

I am quite satisfied with this event in one regard: It made a couple of die-hard CCP apologists reconsider their stance to some degree. That’s good.

I find it pretty amusing to see that pvp fest made highsec more safe as all gankers were busy killing their alts instead of me

Clarified as in the post made after the event was over? Because it wasn’t very clear before that.
