Just another example of how the rules were poorly defined and there were multiple contradictions which should have been clarified in advance.
I know 99.9% of the players won’t agree with me here, but I like that this is how CCP does things. They don’t give out explicit rules, but ones that could be interpreted in multiple ways. This means, that there is a level of unpredictability in the game, and also a level of pilot self-determination. I like that.
Anybody who took part in this event – had the ability to recognize that logging on an Alpha, setting a timer on it, logging him off, killing it, and ‘participating’ in the event in this manner was questionable. And everyone was free to decide for themselves if it was ‘right’ for them to do it. Some didn’t go down that road. It was your choice, and now you are either rewarded or not rewarded for your behavior and principles. But it was all your own doing if you were left out of the reward pool. Don’t blame CCP here.
Instead of following clear-cut rules set out by an outside party, players didn’t know the rules in full, but by their own behavior they determined their fate. @CCP_Zelus I feel that this is how it should be. I wanna see more events where rules are open to interpretation and where a player’s own opinions and principles will determine the outcome for them. And they won’t know the result until after all is said and done. This is brilliant.
This isn’t the first time CCP has run it this way, and this probably won’t be the last. And I applaud them for that.
That being said, of course this wasn’t a PVP fest. To call it that was ironic at best.
I’d like to see a contest where CCP encourages people to spend massive amounts of PLEX and time, and people try really hard, and then CCP says, “Aiko won because she’s the best, better than all the rest!”
Thats the main issue with this event.
It doesn’t reward wins in real combat situations but the most creative ways to abuse the system with alts and staged duels…
Could have been great, but this way it’s just another wasted opportunity… sadly.
I wouldn’t say this was an absolute waste of time for everyone involved. I don’t play very often, but I do enjoy trying out solo PvP content, and I would have been undocking regardless of whether the event existed or not.
Moreover, at the very beginning when during the first few days I even managed to get into some small top bracket it actually encouraged me. I undocked more often, took slightly bolder risks than usual, and even tried undocking a ship I had previously been putting off for “later.”
So in a way, I’m even glad I realized fairly early what the top of this event actually looked like - finding that out much later would have been far more frustrating. Once it became clear that people were, let’s say, playing “creatively,” my motivation dropped off quite a bit and I shifted back into my usual playstyle.
What I would genuinely like to see from events like this isn’t more Plex or raw rewards, but something memorable tied specifically to the PvP Fest itself. Some kind of in-game memento for those who participated, maybe even small but meaningful reminder that you were there and took part

As my points are almost exclusively logged off alphas, I am pretty sure they did count, considering my placements. My few omega chars I used in the end surely didn’t affect the outcome a whole lot.
Sounds like someone is upset he didn’t also think of just doing a few kills on many alts rather than many kills on one character.
Its pathetic how CCP acts. they capitulate to their own incompetence.

I don’t pvp so I have zero skin in this scam.
Please tell me why you find the above acceptable because any reasonable person wouldn’t.
The rules were specified at the start of the event.
If you know you’ll be hard pressed to compete for the top prize, it makes sense to compete for many of the smaller prizes.
actually not all of my alts are named that, I will be getting 35.500 plex from the event! and not only do I get to win, I also get to revel in all the salt :3
