PVP Fest is coming!

Why don’t they post updates in the forums?

Would like to know that too

The news that was shared on the forums hadn’t changed from what was last shared - it was still being posted this week, whereas people on Reddit aren’t necissarily reading the forums to know that was all!

That said, the main post has been edited now with the final results!

Thanks for this. Reports of guys just logging off their Alpha alts to then go and kill them on their main to get points for participating in this event was clearly absurd and shouldn’t be a behavior that gets rewarded.

Congratulations on the 1500 PLEX!

I’m the best!

Thanks for posting up the results.

Will we get to see the number of points scored?

Is the ranking you’ve provided in order of points scored? ( If so, the ordering of my five pilots (surname Quake) looks quite different to my own notes and the zKillboard rankings - I shouldn’t have had any points excluded from unpilotted ships and all five should have finished on the same number of points (not impossible that I made a mistake, but I’d be surprised to learn I’d made enough mis-counts to place 3 pilots between Pherric and Phlighty on the nullsec list)).

I’m surprised that I didn’t take the prize. Since I made 41 kills with manned ships, I should have been on the prize list.I ask you to re-verify the results of my character. Thank you in advance

Thank you for running an event for solo pvpers, but the next one needs to be a lot better because this was diabolical

I am Tom Azwel and I approve this outcome.

You are right, except for that little exploit, the rest of the event wasn’t absurd and made complete sens !

Why would I even grind 24/7 to plex my accounts if CCP gives 10k plex to people that don’t even play the game?

My opinion on the quality of this event, and not just concerning killing logged-off Alphas, has been posted above multiple times. Feel free to scroll, if you like.

Glad this finally concluded.

As this was a kill contest not PLEX contest, can we please have actual kill numbers? (overall plus all regions)

I’m wondering if they disqualified alphas that logged out, but allowed alphas that stayed logged in…

The term ‘‘piloted’’ would allow such interpretation. However, EULA clearly prohibits Alphas to be logged on simultaneously with other accounts, be it Omega or Alpha. So, neither of those should have been counted in cases where players used their own alts, because doing so in the latter case, would mean CCP not only allowed EULA violations during this contest, but also rewarded EULA violations.

Alphas that were logged on and killed on other accounts were probably counted, I would imagine. So, if you were rolling Alphas for a friend to kill, and a friend returned the favor, that would be legitimate.

…but were they?

CCP should clarify. I think it would look really bad for them, if they did count them.

Hmm…

However, the rules do explicitly state Uniquely Piloted, with emphasis being placed on the word “Piloted” here. Killmails attributes a ship’s “owner” as the person the ship belongs to at the time of death, so relevant insurance can be paid out to that person. If a ship is “owned” by someone, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re being “piloted” by the person, so ships that have been killed when the owner was not piloting the ship have been excluded from the final data. As this information isn’t exposed in the API when a killmail is pulled and shown on zKill, there is no way for zKill to know that the owner isn’t piloting the ship.

Literally was given in the EXAMPLES of what WOULD count as “owned”… :

Meanwhile, “In” is used one time, hidden in this sentence that when first reading it seems to be talking about not killing the same player twice, not that they must be in the ship:

Can’t get on the leaderboard as a real solo pvper.

Only a certain way of killing your alts even counts.

Rules that contradict themselves.

How are ANY users supposed to interact with this event without being frustrated.
-Its not for real pvpers
-Login and grind alts
-Hope it counts
-The zkill leaderboard isn’t accurate to the real rankings
What a joke and an absolute waste of time for anyone involved.

Automate systems like this.
Make the rules EASY TO FOLLOW and 100% clear.
Reward real pvp.

Don’t half do events because you want to boost numbers during steam’s “pvpfest” by the same name.

It occurs to me that if they wanted to encourage PvP for a period and reward players for participating in it, they’d just give us the Crimson Harvest 100% loot mechanic (and return it to highsec, this year’s harvest sucked due to the exclusion).
