[QoL for PI] Missing Raster Lock / Grid Snapping for PI & Copy Paste Clusters & Overwrite Multiple Configs

Half Passive income is huge source for new players and will follow you into the late game.
The first planets you setup will look little bit messy and from time to time it will get better.
You will get a template from a corp member or find the github site for templates.

But the one thing everybody bothers is which placing your factorys has no snapping / Raster Lock.
So if you want to min/max your connections or squeeze the min&max out of your PI Planets.
You may will get frustrated placing 18 Factorys, perfectly for the one Template.

  1. Template Default Setup P0-P1 (The perfect one, the foundation of all upcomming Extractions)
This template without instruction for P0 is the one you may use to establich for XYZ to copy.
You spent hours on it to make it look perfect but somehow the connections still have diffrent numbers or of angle or somehow the left side still looks diffrent than the right side.

The other thing is which when you place a lunchpad and start parking the factorys around…
and you want to multipy it by simple copy paste.. you can´t. You restart the whole process again.

You can´t copy paste configurations. Means if you setup one Factory you need to make the Inputs and the Outputs for the other Factorys by hand… again and again.

You have 3 Inputs and planning with 3 Lunchpads? You will not be able to rename the Lunch pads so you better have left overs in it.. or you remeber you setup otherwise you will need to go into the planet overview and check which name has the lunchpad and which kind if input you need to place here.

QoL List:

  • Let me snap Objectives in PI on a GRID to make it perfect
  • Let me copy paste my Lunch Pad and Factory Configuration
  • Factory is taking X from here and storage in the Lunchpad (let me copy this to 18 others Factorys)
  • Rename of Lunchpads, please.

Puh i can´t tell you why this isn´t planned or was added in one of the major reworks of PI.
But after you have done 18 Planets… and maintain them for 1 Month you will know exactly what i am talking about in special if you look into P4 Stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

I never saw why a perfect raster is necessary besides OCD reasons.

I just place all my nodes as close to their neighbour as possible to minimize link cost, into what approximates a straight line.

And that works fine!

Save it as template, copy it to others, done.

Rasters are likely to increase link length if the direction of my line doesn’t perfectly align with the raster, which it often won’t as my lines are in many directions based on planet resources. Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, I’ve got lines in many angles.

Therefore I expect the addition of a raster to be a downgrade in how much we can fit on the planet, even if it looks neater.

As such, I don’t think this is worth the dev time.

Copying factory setups (including routes) would be great though, and renaming of launchpads is a really nice improvement too.

OCD is EVE at its finest.

I had the issue which the last factory was not going to work as i was short on PG for it.
And needed to replace some of the factory much closer to make free room for more PG.
You can make it an Hexagon grid instead.

I mean i can´t judge what dev times costs these but we could prior this down as it is just nice issue.
But copy paste Factory settings would be sooo amazing.

And Lunchpad rename from RZA-842 to XXX and GHF-463 to YYY would make the filling from orbital better. Cause i have the feeling which Lunch Pads are not in order how they placed if you open up the orbital transfers.
