Small tiny miniscule nothing probes. They can take a hit. They aren’t pressurized. Probes to the sun and out through the solar system are nothing compared to something that would carry people. A single tiny rock could depressurize a spaceship.
You’re trying to compare a tiny nothing probe flying a few thousand miles an hour to a pressurized space ship traveling at several billion miles an hour.
That material would have to be lightweight and able to withstand radiation and it would have to be indestructible. Not just bullet proof- completely indestructible.
Even the ISS has taken damage from a paint chip traveling thousands of mph. A paint chip.
Okay, let me help you out here. What you are trying to say is that there isn’t a known material capable of enduring the rigors of extended travel through space at relativistic speeds for the purpose of transporting humans across lightyears of interstellar space.
That’s a far cry from saying there’s no material on Earth capable of withstanding the hazards of spaceflight. Obviously there is (we’ve build spaceships that have withstood the hazards of space), so your assertion, on its face, is patently false. That’s why I gave you the opportunity to clarify what you meant (“did you mean interstellar space?” etc). If you want to try to argue your original assertion, I just don’t see where you have a leg to stand on.
We have intelligent creatures in our oceans. Whales are quite intelligent. Including Orcas. They have social structures. Families. A language.
Even on land… Elephants have a very intricate social structures. They will send their juveniles to be raised by the elders. They protect the elders from threats while they learn discipline and etiquette.
Even back to the water: squid are intelligent too. We don’t even know much about them because they won’t let us. Their ability to change their color is used as a language. We have to film it abd slow it down to see how intricate it is. They can’t be studied because each one captured dies no matter what scientists do. I watched a documentary where they attached a camera to one and quickly released it. It was killed the moment it returned to its home.
Intelligence is not limited to humans. We won the race, but we clearly were not the only ones competing.
Because what he said was patently false and nonsensical. And in point of fact, I did not know what he meant in his original point, which is why I asked what he meant. Only after he elaborated was I clear on what he was trying to get to.
Also, words have meaning. You shouldn’t say black if you mean white. You shouldn’t say up if you mean down. I shouldn’t say, “there’s no known material that can be used to build an aircraft capable of hypersonic travel” when what I really mean is that there’s no material to build a human-habitable aircraft capable of traveling at mach 30. Those are two different statements, the first of which is patently false.
Actually, no. This thread isn’t about interstellar travel. Per the title, it’s about UFOs and ETs. But whatever. You made a boneheaded statement. Don’t get pissy because I pointed that out.
Exactly. I said the same thing. I saw a UFO, I have no idea what it was, where it came from, or who if anyone was piloting it. I’m glad we could finally agree on something (in all sincerity).
Ah, I see. Now we’re resorting to ad hominem. You must be out of logical arguments.
Yeah, I guess I’m stickler for asking people to communicate their ideas clearly.
You are conflating ETs and UFOs, but I listed above in this thread eight different scenarios that might explain the origin of UFOs, only one of which require interstellar travel. It was the second to last in order of likelihood (in my opinion).
If I only implied it, then let me be clear: What you posted was not the product of cogent thought. It was clearly a shitpost. You do that a lot, and I’m tired of trying to engage with that sort of thing. Hence, I asked that you do better than to take a poorly thought-out contrarian position.
As far as I’m concerned, that’s not me saying you’re incapable of a cogent thought. I wouldn’t have asked that of you if I thought you were mentally deficient. If you are mentally deficient, then please accept my apology. Just let me know for sure, and I’ll keep that in mind for future reference.
You’re really wearing out the angel analogies. I’m just sayin’. Mix it up a little.
