Question about what to train for my sensors

I need help with training
Gravimetric Sensor Compensation
Ladar Sensor Compensation
Magnetometric Sensor Compensation
Radar Sensor Compensation

The question is, do I pick one of them based on which faction ship I fly most, or does what ship I fly not apply and it is helps against whatever faction ship is jamming me.

Like if I pick to fly an Amarr ship, would I train Radar Sensor Compensation to make my electric warfare more powerful against another ship,
or would I just pick any ship to fly and Radar Sensor Compensation protects me from Amarr ships. If its true that would mean to train all 4 to 5 just to keep my whatever-faction-ship I am flying safe from countermeasures of all 4 type factions of enemies.

Which way is it?

They are race specific and improve the sensor strength of their specific race’s ships. You should train all of them eventually, but if you mostly fly Amarr ships, training Radar comp first to level 5 helps you more than training other comps as Amarr ships only have Radar sensor strength:

The skills do not make your Ewar more powerful. They only improve your ship’s ability to resist against ECM attempts. To make your Ewar against other ships stronger, you need to train other skills, namely everything in the Electronic Systems category.

It increases your ability to resist ECM jams when flying those particular ships mentioned in the skill. As for leveling it to 5, that depends on your skills, time, and if Amarr is your only doctrine ships.
Eve does follow the 80/20 rule of getting 80% of the benefit for only 20% of skilling time. In the time it takes to level Radar Sensor from 4 to 5, you could level the other three sensor skills to 4 in about the same amount of time.

Each ship only uses one of these skills, depending on the sensor type of the ship.

These sensor skills do two things:

  1. higher sensor strength means lower chance to get ECM jammed
  2. higher sensor strength means it’s harder to get combat probed

Many sorts of EWAR like missile or weapon disruption, scramblers, neutralizers and others do not care about your sensor skills. Despite their name, not even the gallente sensor dampeners do interact with these skills.

Only ECM does.

In other words, it’s pretty rare to need these skills. If you ever fight Caldari/Guristas NPCs and they often jam your ship, or if you often fill a role in PvP that has people use ECM jams against you, like when you fly remote repairs, then it can help to train the sensor compensation skill for the ship you fly in that situation.

It can also help to train the skill if you try to be harder to get combat probed, in case that sometimes happens to you.

You could also ignore these skills for a while, or only train level 2 or 3 in all of them ‘just in case’. This doesn’t take long.

It’s the former; training RADAR Sensor Compensation will increase your sensor strength of ships that use Radar sensors, so you’ve got better sensors while flying in Amarr ships.

Also all of these skills mainly protect you from Caldari ships, as no other faction tends to use ECM jams. Other factions each have their own type of EWAR.
