I cannot think of a better place to bring up RAM memory issues than here with Eve Online. Today, I was doing some hardware clean up in my PC dungeon. I had a stack of DDR3 RAM chips I was testing on my test box of various size and speed. When I came across an 8 GB Samsung 1333, that failed to even boot. I set it aside as borked and went on testing. When done, it was the only chip in my broken pile. I was about to give up on it, when I took one of my sterile alcohol prep pads from my diabetic supplies and gave it a wipe down, both sides and across the pins. It worked.
This shows you how much a tiny dust particle can affect your PC. I take all my rigs outside and blow them out with a 1hp air compressor every 6 months. Extreme? It keeps them purring like kittens. So my advice is to keep your PC as dust free as possible. The room might appear clean, but dust is everywhere. Dust in homes is mostly dead skin cells. The rest is small amounts of plant pollen, hair, fibers, minerals, and burnt meteorite particles.
I am almost certain it was a burnt meteorite on that 8 GB chip.
