I’ve come back after a few years of winning eve, and the client is now unexpectedly unstable for me. The issue is random DCs, where I get an “unable to connect” message from the client, then disconnected. When I log back in, it fails multiple times with “unable to transfer,” or “unable to authenticate” messages, but does not seem to be consistent.
I have tried launching from both the character, and the launch client buttons, and it usually takes a solid 5 minutes to get back. I will enable logging and file some reports later, but wanted to see if anyone else has found a fix, as this is pretty well preventing me from joining my corp in lowsec. No one wants their logibro leaving randomly! Thanks in advance.
I’ve had two random DCs this week on 1/3 clients, but was able to log back in right away.
The disconnect bug is becoming a bit more consistent and identifiable. Taking a wormhole into HS will usually disconnect me. Other times it is opening inventory, or jumping stargates. Still haven’t nailed down a pattern, but it is making play in any area but HS very risky.
Anyone else having this issue, and able to contribute on testing?
Disconnecting happens because EvE is sensitive to packet loss. If a node between you and the server is having issues (perhaps its a hot day in Atlanta, and they are doing construction) then you will have frequent disconnects. Performance can improve dramatically if you utilize a decent VPN, as the VPN will bypass the problematic intervening node.
