Random skill idea

a new skill that adds warp speed to every warp capable object like a 10 or 5% bonus per level or something

While I’d love such a skill, it could throw a bit of a spanner in the works when you have high skill cruiser pilots warping faster than a newbro in a frigate.

So, make my blockade runner warp at 30 AU/s instead of “only” 20 AU/s? Sure, go right ahead…

CCP does not like the idea of mandatory skills that provide bonuses which give an unfair advantage. That is why, among other things, manufacturing skills that used to lower material cost were refactored into only providing time bonuses. The idea of training skills from the early days of EVE was also removed for that same reason because it mandated people to train these to certain levels to be able to progress their skills at a reasonable rate.

Such a warp speed skill would be demanded and mandated by every group to be trained to level V before you were allowed to participate in anything. That creates a frustrating, coercive environment for people.

Skill or not, a 100% flat increase to warp speeds would be nice. It would make it feel more like you are warping.

Yeah it should be 5% and everything should have their base warp reduced by 25%

Omg it would be just so amazing we don’t have enough skill bloat as it is for new toons to train.

Unless you have a really good reason as to why warp speed needs to be increased and that it should introduce another mandatory skill.

There are rigs and low slot modules if you want your ship to warp faster.

As said above a ‘warp speed’ skill would be just another a mandatory hurdle for all players, which isn’t a good addition to the game.

Also it’s not very interesting; warp speeds are in a pretty good spot right now and any increase in them only makes space feel smaller.

Do we want space to feel small?

This is a spaceship game. The universe is supposed to feel big, and faster travel for the sake of faster travel contributes nothing except that it makes space feel smaller.
