Rare content for explorers

Hello everyone,

I came across an idea about new content for explorer.

Special wormhole systems that are instable (2-4h when a player enters) and will have a supernova explosion killing all ships within the system. The state of instability is visually recognizable, no timer!
Those wormholes cannot be scanned down/no signatures to get in.
Within the wormhole you can scan down exit wormholes, those collaps once you jump through due to ist low mass. Those exit wormholes have a short lifespan after they appear as signatures
The system contains highly valuable sites of all sort, once a player enters the time is ticking until the super nova explosion event happens.
-Goal: High risk high reward, rare event that cannot be farmed by masses, equal to ghost sites. Once you decide the system gets too instable you have to scan for an exit and use it right away.
No preparation of exit whs to increase the excitment.

How to get in: Rare chance finding a special item in datasites containing the coordinates of the entrance to a supernova wormhole.
Once a player loots the item it will expire within a short period of time (no selling).
Once the Player warps to the entrance wormhole it will collaps within a short period of time.
Multiple players can enter, enough mass.

What do you think?

So basically explorer abyssals? I dont see how content that excludes pvp and can be done in 50m ship is high risk :slightly_frowning_face:

Hmm, my thought was risking your ship if staying for too long but you have a point.

main “disadvantage” is that the probability of any other player getting into the same system with you is incredibly low. So it’s basically semi-instanced.

Wouldn’t it be much smarter to have such sites appear as “escalations” in regular space? Meaning:

  • you can find such “treasure map” items with a short lifetime
  • this “treasure map” can lead to any WH currently connected to a K-Space system and the expiration time of the map matches the lifetime of the connecting wormhole. It can still be rolled by force, so better be quick if you want to get in there.
  • inside the system there is a “treasure site” that is hidden. Means it cannot be scanned with Core Probes as it has no signature. However, once you arrive in the system and warp to it, it gets a signature.
  • those escalations can come in various difficulties, depening in which class of WH the “map” was found and in which class of WH the “treasure site” spawns. For some you will need only a frigate. For others a Stratios or even a T3 Cruiser. And the hardest ones are fleet content that you have to do with friends or your corp or offer it quickly to someone who might be able to run it before it expires.

This means players just have to learn to look at the “visual indicator” and then know how much time they have left. So they can always be “safe” by getting out once the indicator enters the “last” or “critical” stage. Doesn’t sound like that much of a risk, unless you fall asleep for some reason…

The similarity to filaments is there for sure. But its something you cannot farm 24/7.

I like your concept.

The risk of your concept would be pvp, getting ganked right? I feel like there has to be some sort of time based pressure similar to ghost sites on top to justify good loot.

Downsite would be, you then probably got only one event site.

Its either mining something valuabel, Data Relic sites oder a special combat site or smth.

This means players just have to learn to look at the “visual indicator” and then know how much time they have left

Yes, there should be a way you can learn how to minimize your risk, if its visually or something else. It doesnt have to be 100% safe that way: For example The last visually critical state might mean you loose you ship and everything you farmed if it appears 1-10 minutes. But if you leave at the state before, this one would be so long lasting that you miss out on alot of loot.

Maybe the loot value increases the longer you stay or smth. to make it worth xD
