Recorded a bot in high sec - but why even bother?

wouldn’t it have sufficed to just stay at this point?

It’s ok to not know what someone else is doing.

In court, which this is not, there is a thing called reasonable doubt.

Nobody on these forums actually knows if they are a bot. Good job to the person that reported them, and spent however long recording them. If they are a bot, I hope they get banned.

If they are not a bot, a couple of people here have spent a lot of time slandering someone that was minding their own business, and could have had any number of reasons for repeatedly docking and undocking.

For example, they could have been testing their computer response times trying to time the dock/undock process for something silly, like being able to time exactly how long it would take to undock and perhaps rush to a juicy target.

We don’t know. It’s pointless to be lumping people into a couple groups and saying that you know what everyone is doing because of a thread several years ago.

Might be time to just leave it in the hands of the people that can monitor them in ways you can’t, and will decide how things really are, and you’ll never be notified.

Hang on a minute….

…surely a sane response is to duck said person in the mill pond and if they sink they are innocent and if they float they are guilty and clearly a ̶w̶i̶t̶c̶h̶ bot.

I thought that was standard practice with the ̶ w̶i̶t̶c̶h̶ Botfinder General ever since Salem.

To be honest….I find it more concerning that someone is going round and acting like some self-proclaimed Witchfinder General….casting aspersions of ‘ you’re a witch !’ upon people.

I myself have undocked and docked in rapid succession on a few occasions. For example when creating an insta-dock bookmark. The ship is drifting while you open Locations and type the bookmark name. So you may need a few attempts to get it just right. There are all sorts of other reasons a person might dock and undock like that….including expecting someone outside and just popping out to see if they are there.

calm down miner.

SERIOUSLY??

How can us miners be calm when you show up all intelligent looking with your explosive red hair and acting all innocent with your thread replies.

We can’t calm down now!

I could be doing this while on a boring phone call afterall.
How is this different from ship spinning?

You know that CCP is encouraging repetitive action for no reason, right?
So how could this be forbidden and bannable?

If you spin your ship more than 10 times in station, the spin counter appears:

no it dont xD its just your feelings that youre right and thats fine but just its fine you have the FEELING youre right doesnt make the FAKT youre right.

Feeling and Fakt are difference and its very IMPORTANT to understand the differences

ok lets take a closer look

“Characteristics:

  • Every bot is in a one man corporation named after himself (the default name the system gives you when you try to create a corporation);
  • Every corporation has the default text in the description “Enter the description of your corporation here”
  • All characters are doing missions mainly for Corporate Police Force (oh… the irony) corporation.
  • The characters are mainly flying Caracals (lower SP bot grinding for standings) or Ravens (full time bot). Some of them were spotted flying CNRs, but only for a minute or two. Basically, the bot docks in a station, switch to CNR, warp to a gate where his next mission is, turns around, docks again and switch back to regular Raven and continue travelling to his mission… as if that will fool someone to think it’s a legitimate player.
  • Bots are know for switching agents/systems once in a while and logging on and off randomly. Also, it seems that they are not all of them online all the time. A couple of them are left offline, while the majority is running.
  • Convos are rejected, they don’t answer EVE mails, if wardeced, it just leaves its corp and creates another one with the same name (can be seen in corp history of some of them).
  • It looks like they are left in NPC corp while training skills and doing low-lever grinding (for standings mainly). Once they hit the time when they are profitable, they create their own corporation to avoid paying NPC corp tax.”

this is your text and all of this sounds to me, you found ppl who fly different ships for different missions and if they have a faction mission they choose to switch their mission hub until they got another faction mission or something else xD

WHERE is the prove they were bots ? where is the prove the op found a bot ?

i want fakts and not “i think he acts like a bot and because of that he must be a bot”

your feelings dont care ! youre never know if its a bot or not the only thing you can do is report them and still you will never know if they are a bot still if they are gone you will never know

where do you know they got banned ? CCP dont tell YOU if they bann anyone else xD so you just think they are banned but maybe they dont play anymore because they had lost their fun about this game ? maybe other, more drastic reasons like a accident ?

no ! player THINK they can detect bot and still if its a real bot you will never know  but you dont detect bots, only players you think they are bots !

and until you show me and everyone else, the ban and the reason of it, your just wrong

and nobody have to  but fakts are fakts and feelings are feelings ! and until youre work at CCP and can prove they are bots ….

so again ….

you think something → just your feelings ( all players have )

you KNOW somthing → Fakt ( only CCP knows )

F A C T. That is why there is a report button. Some botting behavior is obvious, others not. But thats why CCP gives us buttons to report bots

The fineprint here is “Some botting behavior” … as in plays 24/7/365 without sleep. But then again how will you detect this? Not alone as a single player as this would make you do the same behavior or you would need a bot to detect a bot. So you have to be at the very minimum two persons to detect this.

Then some people have fun in appearing as a bot and mimicking it, just to get people aroused and report them, while they are not bots. Because there is another fine print in the report button “Abuse may result in action being taken against your account”.

There are people warping to each belt in highsec and starting to chat and bump everyone and if there is no reaction, they accuse as bot. You know, i don’t have to interact with you if i want to chill and to mine undisturbed. There is a reason we are not in the same fleet. No one likes people snooping around and harassing everyone. And to be honest, i find this also out of hand.

and becasue of this button you are always right if you use it ? oO

yes, some actions of players are wierd and if you suspect its a bot you have a button to report them to CCP that they can take a closer look. but where is the prove, you found a real bot and he got banned ?

and btw … CCP cant monitor 24/7 every player action so you have the ability to support them but this still does not mean your correct !

and everything i want, is to prove you found bots and they got banned ! but again, feelings are no F A K T S ( because i´m german and you still understand it )

I don’t think you’ve understood me correctly.

One one side, I had a direct fighting experience with a bot farm. On the other side, you only have empty words.

So, let’s make something clear: I don’t care what you think.

fly safe o7

Please explain this statement.

I just see someone docking and unlocking, this is explained by someone undocking, realising that one of their modules is disabled, dock up, re-enable, undock, realise they don’t have the Scientists or Exotic Dancers they need, docking up, putting Exotic Dancers in their cargo hold, undocking, realising they didn’t bring ammo, docking….

I’ve done this.

I am not a bot.

Get better evidence.

You never supplied a single bit of definitive proof of a bot farm. Most of your ‘Characteristics’ of bots are just plain ludicrous. For example characters being in one man corps. So what ? I have characters in one man corps. Several of them. I like creating fancy corp names…and I don’t like leaving chars in NPC corps. Its as simple as that. Yet you somehow manage to turn such thing into a conspiracy.

Or 'characters mainly flying Caracals’. Again….so what ? How on earth does flying a Caracal invoke some bot conspiracy ? I have chars that mainly fly a Gnosis…as they seldom get the skill queue and are low SP. Maybe they are part of some secret cabal !

And this truly takes the biscuit……

  • Bots are know for switching agents/systems once in a while and logging on and off randomly. Also, it seems that they are not all of them online all the time. A couple of them are left offline, while the majority is running.

Is there anyone who doesn’t switch systems once in a while, log in and out randomly, and whose chars ( if they have multiple ) aren’t all offline sometimes or partially offline other times ? I mean…what are you smoking that this becomes a conspiracy ??

The Switching Systems is particularly hilarious, I didn’t see this first go through the thread tbh but I do this, I have about 5 or so different areas I go to for various reasons, and I’ll spend a few weeks there, and go somewhere else. I have a couple each of my favourite ships and such in these outposts.

Still not a bot
